AT PRO's future?

Dancer is right for sure. I dont log finds anymore, after 5 years if I cant remember my finds there is a problem. I am still finding new setting that produce on my AT Pro. I did just get a rain cover and a coil cover for the stock coil. I got tired of the 5x8 coil. Know what I found, stock does a pretty good job too and covers more ground and depth. Now why a rain cover you may ask? Well let me show you:

nel tornado coil best money I ever spent for detecting would have bought the storm coil but couldnt find a deal on one. This setup is killer I sold my stock coils 5x8 and 8,5x11 and use the nel coil full time . Of course im a relic hunter you can watch videos on youtube by the hoover boys using nel coils on the pro and let me tell you guys who use the pro they make big difference on coverage and depth. I use a sling detector pro and it really helps I can swing the tornado coil all day. the attack coil I had was a beast 15x15 sold it but depth wise it was good only sold it because im gonna try new whites sport or a deus if I can sell enough stuff and get my money right. the dealer who I bought my pro from tried to talk me out of the nel coils for my machine he was very wrong and he had been hunting 30 years we tested his pro beside mine his did not perform like mine. on a deep target his gave the ole iron grunt and mine gave the pop sound the guys who use this machine will know what im talking about .it was a old fishing weight. If you get a deep target and it shows as iron with the stock coil dig it you might get suprized it might be a coin. do a test and watch the pro identify deep good targets as iron the coils do make a difference. you will learn your pro and watch where you get advice from because if I had listened my buddy I would not have some of the deep relics I have from a civil war block I to a 1740 king george that the stock coils would have not got imo watch some depth test on youtbe and you will see the pro showing it as iron on deep targets.

Finally! After two late snow storms... A hectic work schedule... I made it out with the new ATP.. This thing is amazing... Went back to my Grandfathers house where I had been with the 250...

13 wheats, an Erie RR seal, and a Indian from 1880.. Sterling Ring and a gold plated copper ring and a few clad stuff.. I only had a few hours to look around.. My father (when he was alive) had said he may have lost my mothers class ring up there years ago.. I'll be going back a few more times...

Next day after yard work I figured Id do my own front yard again... a '36 buffalo nickel a Rosie and few clad quarters.. I've previously done my yard at least three times with the 250..

I cant wait to really figure this thing out.

I think Im missing some of the silver tones somehow.. Im getting better at the tones and separating the iron.. Listening for the pop in the tone... Need more time.. Don't we all?

Thanks guys!!!!!

I don't log my finds either , that has never been necessary.....for those who just like to keep a log I suppose it gives them another part of the hobby to enjoy but I never seen a need for it. Im like you , if I cant remember where I found what then there is a problem.....most of the time why would I need to remember it anyway , everything is random so past finds wont predict future success , and high traffic areas can be identified without keeping a log. Even though Ive been detecting 20+ years over many sites in four states I can remember right where I found every old coin or jewelry , and clad is everywhere so no point in remembering that.

Ive found that the 5x8 gets nearly the same depth as the stock coil , there is a little loss but it makes up for that with more accurate target ID , better target separation , and super easy pinpointing. The stock coil is very optimistic with target ID , making pennies seem like dimes and many junk items seem like coins. The stock coil does cover more ground , I use both coils depending on the site but the 5x8 is the best choice in most of the places I hunt.

What kind of deal he give yah if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking for an AT, and I might go new. May buy from him if price is right. Thanks

when I bought my AT Pro the AT Gold was just released into market and being my 1st detector I wasnt sure on the differences of the machine / and that later I would stationed in the California desert. I have upgraded my hunting gear / tools but the AT Pro has been very reliable and worth the $$.
I can see myself using it into the future.
For my digs I have been finding coins at surface to 10 inches deep with ease in the desert. I am back in Virginia so finding older coins will be a tad tougher because of the topsoil but the Pro or Gold will be worth your $$ in investment.

If you contact Garrett and ask them, they will tell you if they plan to upgrade and they will let you know if anything is on the horizon. But I don't think so, there is no reason for it.

I just read your post about downgrading to an AT Pro. Which detector were you using before and did you keep it as an alternate? I am curious because I have decided to go to an AT Pro from a recently purchased Minelab gold machine(Eureka Gold). The AT Pro seems to be more versatile and not so highly special-
ized. I believe it will still be adequate for some prospecting, especially if I get the 5" by 8" coil.

Thanks, Jim

My post was about the ace 250 that I bought then the new models coming out just after I got it. I wanted to upgrade to the at pro and was wondering about the at pros future.
I bought an at pro and love it. It's amazing. I also went with a NEL storm coil. Nothing was wrong with the original coil. Just wanted to try the storm coils after hearing and watching reviews on it. Good luck with your purchase.
