AT Pro Tones....Pro mode

I dug 6 in about an hour yeserday..they rang up anywhere from 47-53 and a little jumpy, but the tone was good. most times its 49-53 range

When I got my AT Pro a couple months ago I was told to pay more attention to tones then the numbers and dig all repeatable solid signals. After looking at a list of ATP vdi numbers I now have a question. I will use vdi 53 as an example. According to the list....tabs, nickels and some gold rings will ring in under the vdi 53. Since I haven't found any nickels or gold I was wondering.......is there any difference in the tone between these objects or a solid 53 sounds the same for the objects mentioned?

This would be hunting in Pro Mode with some iron discrimination.

Thanks
Denis

I've personally all but given up on digging 53s. 200 pull tabs to one nickel isn't worth it to me. My all time favorite (catch the sarcasm there) is the solid quarter tone. Tone will be solid every single pass. I dig, and there sitting in the hole is...a bottle top. :stars:

I can't respond to VDI's on gold but I have had three detectors and I've never seen a nickle give a crisp clean VDI yet on any of them.
Nickles are the only coins I'v seen do that.

I agree with Grunter and fuzymunky. 51 is my number for nickels. 53 is 90% of the time, one of those pull tabs that is supposed to stay on the can, but becomes trash anyway. I reckon we human beings are bound and determined to litter!

Thanks for all the responses. I was able to get out the other evening before dark and found some clad. It just so happens that 2 of the first five or six finds were my first nickels. Both were good repeatable signals in the 47 - 51 range. Due to the info posted here I was excited to see what was under the coil. Neither were deep or old but fun to find.

Thanks again
Denis
