AT Pro out with the E-Trac

SW,
MORE NICE FINDS !!.....GREAT REPORT !!.....What was the TID of the dime in the hole with the nail ? ...... It didn't read the same as a normal Merc dime by itself did it ? ...... Did you get weird audio on that target ? .....THanks, Inquiring minds want to know !!.....I'm getting excited about this machine .... Thanks for sharing ...Jim

Actually the dime gave a good TID and I had no idea the nail was even there until I rechecked the hole after recovering the dime. One direction did sound off better than the other, but I thought it was probably because being on it's side. Something I've noticed about the AT having dug a few extremely deep targets is the AT has great dynamics on modulation. For those who like a detector that you can tell the depth by sound, the AT should do you well. Those deep targets has a very noticeable light faint sound. Solid, but easily recognizable as a deep target.

That's pretty incredible that you got a good TID on that dime .....I"m impressed !!.....That lighter tone of the deeper targets is all part of the Pro mode's audio ....The manual states that the AT Pro will get to the point where you will still hear the target , but you will loose TID .....Do you still have more volume available in case you had a target that was even deeper ? ....You mention a "very noticeable light faint sound " ...........I'm hoping that it doesn't disapear on deeper targets and that there is more volume available .....Thanks again for the info .....Jim

Better headphones help. Got the black widows wired up on mine with the volume cranked wide open on them they are loud just like I like them.

Nice report. The 15 kH should do well on gold.

"The AT hit on the target from all directions. A very faint hit, but it was a high tone that would have caught my attention. "

What headphones were you using? Always nice to hear a depth result on a new market detector.

The AT Pro is still on my list of a few detectors - on what will be next to get. Your post helps keeps it a strong contender.

When I get a signal I feel is a good target I'll do some experimenting. One thing I do is to raise until the target reaches it's very last signal to help me spot a target that could be at the very limits of a detectors field of detection. I was able to lift the AT's coil a good 4" off the ground on the dime before the signal disappeared. The TID quit displaying just before that 4". I also hit the target from the front, back and sides of the coil looking for changes. That is how I tested the hot spot just front of center.

With this kind of reports pouring in, the AT pro will sell like hotcakes.

Your raising of the coil is a GREAT way of finding the true location of the target ....I do the same with all my coils ....You'ld be surprised where some coils hot spots actually are ..... There are the dips in the coil on the SEF Butterfly coils ....You can pinpoint using those little dips both front and back .... Use the design to your advantage as you have found with the coil on the AT ..... Raising the coil will also help you with the depth .....You have the volume that weakens with more depth, and the distance of the coil above the ground that will also aid you in depth to the point where you won't even have to look at the gauge on the AT anymore to know how deep your target is ..... Thanks again for sharing ...You have been a wealth of info !!.....Sincerely, Jim
