At Pro falsing

Bernie

New member
I bought an AT Pro but didn't receive it in time to try it our before the detecting season ended here. I didn't bother to take it out of the box until recently when I decided that I would take it DIV in Virginia in case it rained. I found out from some very experienced members of another forum that all their AT machines falsed when you wiggle your wrist over an area with no metal present. Garrett replaced both of their machines, but one of them still has the problem. I tried this out and my machine falsed like crazy when I tested it.

I use an Explorer SE Pro, T2 Ltd, and a TDI and none of these machines have this problem. I expected that I would see posts on this forum about this, but nothing. If 3 out of 3 machines that I have personal knowledge of have this problem, Garrett must have a big quality assurance problem with this machine and I am very disappointed with the AT.

There were a lot of posts about the falsing on here. Send yours back and Garrett will take care of the problem for you. Dont give up on it too early. I think the performance will suprise you.

: Had the same problem with mine falsing sent it in
and Garretts did there magic on it .
It was covered by the warrenty and did not cost anything ( thank you Garrett
for the great service ):garrett:
Never affected the depth performance after getting the falsing problem fixed.:clapping:

Yes call them and send it back to them. Turn around time is about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I had that problem and they fixed it free, but I paid for shipping it back and they sent me a gift( Texas Twister)!!

I guess I will have to send it back. That doesn't do me much good for DIV. I haven't had any troubles of that kind with any of my other machines. Am I the only one who thinks that this really reflects badly on Garrett's quality control?

I had to send mine in too, and was just glad a company fixed it promptly instead of offering excuses.
Sure they had a problem with the falsing, but they are standing behind the product and fixing it.
For me, thats a darn good reason to stick with them.

Dedicated to the proper recovery and preservation of historical artifacts. This is a corporation owned organized relic hunt event owned by John and Rose Kendrick. They have an annual spring and fall hunt that you can sign up for. If your lucky you could get chosen to participate.

Google "Diggin in Virginia" you can see what it is all about.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ..... There will ALWAYS be problems with new machines that hit the market , and that is true for ANY company .... The issue at hand is not if a company has a problem .....The issue at hand is how a compnay handles the problem ......Garrett has taken back every machine that has had falsing issues ......They have done so in a timely manor also and in most cases at no cost to the customer , and they added an additional tool besides for your trouble ...... I would not cosider Garrett to be a bad company at ll for sticking by their product and fixing what needed to be fixed in a timely fashion .... In most cases most have sent their detector to Garrett and have recieved it back in a matter of 2 weeks ..... As others have mentioned ....Don't be so quick to sell the AT Pro short .....The only one loosing out will be you !!..... Yes , Garrett had issues when this macine first came out , but they made good on it , and now they have one of the best machines on the market , and at a price that even someone just starting out can afford it ......Jim

I just got back from the post office. Mine is going back. If I tapped the sand or grass it would false. If I raised the coil to waist high and gently twisted my wrist back and forth, it would sound off until I stopped the gentle motion. One might say that motion is not really associated with hunting, but if the unit sounds off with such a light twisting motion than how would you know if a non repeatable signal was caused by the same issue. Non repeatable signals create a pause and double check while your hunting. They also create a bit of frustration.

I am very happy that Garrett had no problems taking the unit back. Instead of paying for shipping they will send a complimentary gift, I heard it was a Texas Twister, back with the unit. I am bummed that I had to send it back, but I really like the detector otherwise, and will be happy if the problem is resolved successfully.

Good luck

Does anyone know if the falsing issue has been totally resolved in regards to all newly shipped units?

ML, I just received an AT Pro last week....I had waited to order and asked the distributor, and he assured me all recent Pro's shipped out are "good to go" I was still hesitant. After receiving mine I did "the test". Absolutley no falsing!! Even my Ace 250 would false at times if I bumped into a tree. The AT pro I can wiggle, shake, bump objects with no problems at all. So I think everything from here on out Garret, made sure they were good before they left the warehouse. I'm sure they wouldn't be sending out any that are not 100% now.......

Garrett is ran by some of the finest, if not the finest folks in the industry. And I am not saying that just because I am a dealer, I am saying that because that is the TRUTH.

I waited for a brand new shipment to arrive to a certain dealer, I won't mention. I was assured that it was a fresh batch. Evidently, it wasn't because mine went back today. As I said before, I really liked my unit, can't wait to have it work exactly as it should. Garret was very easy to deal with, although, for the inconvenience I think they should pick up the shipping and toss in the complimentary item. I was given a choice of one or the other. I choose the gift because I wanted to ship mine overnight to get it back quicker.

I won't be ordering anything else from the specific dealer I used. Things haven't gone smoothly with either my detector or my accessories I ordered. I don't want to bash them because maybe it was an isolated issue where I just got unlucky or I fell through the cracks by chance. But I do plan on ordering more things, because I like the hobby, and I will choose a different dealer next time.

I'm going to pick one up this week, and asked my dealer to make sure it was a newer shipment. He assured me it was. I guess I'll find out when I try it.

In another thread I made menion that anyone buying a new AT Pro should have the dealer take it out of the box and check it before sending it off .....If they can't do that for the customer, then the customer needs to go elsewhere to a more cooperative dealer ... .....If the dealer claimed that there was no problem with the machine , and there IS a problem with the machine, then the dealer should be mentioned so that nobody else has to deal with the same fate that you are dealing with ...... We are the customers, and we are the ones that support the dealers ...... We don't have a problem sending them our business , then THEY should have no problem giving us good service !!.....It works both ways !!......Jim

I didn't mention the dealer because many posters here have had good dealings with this particular company. It's possible that things just didn't go right, someone was having a bad day, or it wasn't meant to be for me. I didn't feel like I should start a bad PR campaign against the firm. If I see other negative posts about this dealer I will chime in, but since others have high praise, my experience sounds like an exception rather than the rule. I will give another dealer the chance to earn my business. The main point of the post was to let people know that there could be some AT Pros out there that still need an adjustment. I would highly recommend buying one, but check it right away.

Well........I will tell you that I got my machine from Andrew at New Eng Dist. Was told it was fresh batch and wouldn't be any of the falsing issues and that was 100% correct. No problems whatsoever!! Was worried about it, but they were recommended by several users here and I am quite happy. Got a Propointer in package and was a great deal!!

I know that many of you are loyal Garrett users, you probably wouldn't be on this forum if you weren't. I have also read the posts about how good the Garrett customer service is. I called them today and was sent to a voice mail box. As of the close of business today, I have yet to receive a return call. Maybe some of you don't think this is a problem, but I don't call this good customer service. :ranting: I am a professional and my policy is to return all calls the same day that I receive them. It will be interesting to see how many calls it will take to resolve this problem.

Good luck .... I am sure you will get your issue resolved in a timely manner.
