When I first got my Pro, I was very impressed with the air-test results. It has also been proving itself in the field. My question is for the people who are having depth issues. Are you not able to pick up a dime at 6-7 inches in an air-test situation? If that's the case I think something is wrong. That being said, air tests vs. use in the field are vastly different due to the soil that is between the target and the coil (many variables). I find that some deep signals are iffy, but if you take the time to listen carefully from a few different directions the A.T. Pro will convince you to dig. My first very deep coin recovered with the Pro was a Wheat penny. The signal was scratchy and inconsistent...but something in the sound was too sweet to ignore. I can't explain it, I know it sounds goofy. Anyway that Wheatie was also at least 8 inches deep. I also find that I can go over an area quickly and get all the shallow targets (0-4 inches), but then go over the area again SLOWLY and it's a totally different ballgame.
Speaking of the Iron Audio feature, it's great. I have also found coins that were masked by iron and bits of trash that I know my other detector missed before. The iron/junk will distort or interrupt the signal, but the Pro will still be able to send part of that sweet coin signal to your ears. Long story short, go slow and dig everything that has a hint of goodness in the signal. I learned this by reading the informative posts by John-Edmonton and the other detecting gurus on this site.
