Artifact

I found this in one of my fields this past spring, almost hit it with the mower! Not sure what it is, I am guessing some kind of Native American artifact. The bigger hole on the top next to the quarter is about 3/4” deep, about 1 1/4” diameter. It has 3 smaller holes each about 1/2” diameter. Any comments or help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hmmm
Fire starter maybe.
The string rod method.
Put fine kindling in bowl.
Spin stick in center.

I was thinking that too at first, but with the shape of the rock, I would say those holes are naturally formed.
Interesting piece though, and I could be wrong about it… I would have picked it up for a closer look too though.

A Nutting stone is what I have been told they are, but who knows. I have one similar here somewhere. Good item!

I have been told it's to put nuts in the holes to be hit and cracked open.

I worked in an underground mine for a few years. Looks like where a older air powered drill bit finished! "Bottom of hole"
