May we both find a Merc or a Walker on our next trip out .:thumbup::cheers:

Digits in number represent the powers of 8 instead of powers of 10 as in 1, 10 100 as we commonly use. So in base 8, each digit from right to left equals:
right column is the ones column (8[sup]0[sup][/sup][/sup]=1) numbers go from 0 through 7.
second column is the 8[sup]1[sup][/sup][/sup] column so you go from

Base 8 compared to Base 10

10=8
11=9
12=10
13=11
etc till 17=15
then the next number is 20=16 (2x8[sup]1[sup][/sup][/sup])
21=17 (2 x8[sup]1[sup][/sup][/sup]+1)
Etc.
101= (8[sup]2[/sup] +0+1=64+0+1=65
102= 8[sup]2[/sup]+0+2

Hope this makes sense.

Naught plus naught equals naught...

Naught minus naught equals naught...

Naught times naught equals naught...

Naught divided by naught equals naught...

Yup makes perfect sense to me, adds up to 53 and makes me too old to learn this new fangled math :poke:

Thank you Homebre , you explained it well and now I understand how it works . I don't see myself ever using this concept though and I'm kind of happy about that .

Finally the light has come on....................with this most complicated and totally spastic formula..........explained rather well, it's all clear to me now..........I can see why young people are so screwed up. Why use a simple sytem when a riduculously complicated one can be used in it's place!!! LOL LOL LOL

As I mull this topic over again I can't help but mention that the minelab sdc2300 was announced in december and it still is not to market. Hang on all of the companies like to tease a little.

Just about to be released, pre-orders are being now being taken by Ontario Canadian Distributor. Possible Canada will see them first?
Canadians love Minelabs.
At least they have something to show us and tell all about it. Tesoro right now is all talk.

From the Canadian distributor

Introducing the NEW Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector Accepting pre-orders now! $3,796.83US ($4125.00 CAD)

They say the best things come in small packages! This is certainly true for the SDC 2300. It

Who can afford a detector at that price?

Yep, that's a lot of money for a detector. More money doesn't necessarily mean better.

I've tried a lot of different brands of detectors and Minelab is one of the least favorite that I've used. They're over priced and overrated.

Teknetics and Tesoro detectors are among my favorite detectors to use.
