Yeah, I'm eating crow. All of you were right. The Garrett Propointer is in a class by itself. I just got my new replacement from Garrett, tested it, and haven't been able get that big GRIN off my face since.
So there you are...........a convert. :surrender::surrender::surrender:

I assume because of the black bottle label. I had some once, but used it to kill an infection between my toes. Worked good too :clapping:

Should have known :nono:
If that black label wont do - perhaps the Captain:drinking:
Now do the coin trick to it to increase sensitivity - depth when needed
:poke:

morgan?..he plays dirty!..watch out!..(nasty!)

K - Air test your ProPointer on a target (dime) and note the depth/distance. Turn off - your done there.

Okay, take a coin (I usually use a penny - in case I loose it out in the field).
Turn on the ProPointer.
Hold the coin (penny) against the ProPointer (I use my thumb) by the battery compartment area - me, against the side usually below the switch.
Slide the coin (against the ProPointer) going toward the tip, slowly, until it just makes a pulse/beep. Mine usually ends up doing this when the coin is just about to the LED light. So I guess you can say between the on/off button switch & LED light. Now back the coin off just slightly till the pulse/beep just stops.
Now while that coin (penny) is held still against the ProPointer, test the distance you get with the tip of the ProPointer to a target (same dime you did at the start), and note the depth/distance.
Any difference?

By doggies, that's brilliant. A threshold adjuster. Your idea? I'm impressed! So now, you gotta figger-out an adjustable doo-hickey to affix to the Propointer. The redneck way would be to drop the penny down the thumb of your digging glove. All kidding aside, you've now changed an already fantastic coin pin pointer into one that might pinpoint small nuggets. Thanks for the BIG heads-up. :please:

tab,

You increased your depth by doing that? I know it detunes if you turn it on close to metal or interference which is what I believe is happening in the indoor test floating around on youtube, but I didn't know you could add depth...

Yes shambler, it almost doubles the depth  So next tried a .177 BB, from a BB gun. Mr. Propointer would only find it virtually touching the the surface, but pre-loading with the penny, I got almost 1 1/2 in range on the BB. HOT DAWG. You could use the loaded Propointer for your main detector for gold detecting in shallow crevice's. This gives a whole new arsenal for gold hunting. Way to go Tad-nabit!

Yea. IT IS great.
I was out looking for a lost gold ring with another guy.
He didn't have a pinpointer. He saw me useing mine and said. I'VE GOT TO GET ONE OF THOSE!
Now maybe when I get some money ahead (if ever) I'll get one of those Sun Ray pointers. Gets 3inches maybe more.

The penny's a great idea, be wise when to use it. I believe Garrett set the the thing where you'd find coins with it, but not to where you'll be finding lead shot, so much. For looking for nuggets, awesome!
