..... you were one of the main ones spinning the small jack as a great thing while I was ripping it right?

No, I didn't talk about that headphone jack before, because I think it has pros and cons. It seems that you are proud that you were ripping it, but you forgot to check for some advantages the small jack could have.

Who ended up up being totally right on this? It long been common knowledge full ear cups block out background noise & are the only way to go if your serious about hearing all the audio differences, etc. Why bother with all kinds of tone ID if you can't hear 'em well? But I guess I don't need to tell you anymore as bounty hunter has agreed & taken my side on this....

Totally right on this ? I don't think so. Just because FT changed that, because of you or not, doesn't make it totally right. Do you rally think everyone wants headphones that block out background noise. In some places it can be dangerous if you don't hear snakes for example. Again you forget the good side of being able to hear background noise.

No, I don't need or expect any "credit" for anything out of these people.

Everyone who reads your post can see that you're crying to get credit, because you seem to think that only your opinion is the right one.

The point is they ARE listening to me rant even if I'm a thorn in their side now. I'm making damn good suggestions & they are listening even though deep down they would never admit it.

First Texas reads your post as they do with everyone's post. They try to please every customer , even you. I give them credit for that.

I did an F5 video & ran down the controls (U must remember as you copied it in German)

I made my own F5 video on youtube for the German guys. Even we taped the same detector doesn't make it a copy. A copy would be your video just translated. But when I made my own F5 video your video was already pulled from youtube. My video is a better quality anyway. Yours was shaky and hard to see. You celebrate yourself, because you thought you're the only one who can make videos. Wrong ....check out youtube....millions can do that.

Ground balancing way too overblown with 2 pages of mass confusion. l

First you complain that the headphone jack is not for professionals and now you blame FT, because they educate people about ground balancing and ground conditions. How can a guy new to detecting become better if nobody tells him about GB ?

Like I said: Try to see the other good side too and you'll get the credit you're begging for.

Andy

This guy Andy happens to be the exclusive technetics dealer in Germany. So he's only here to defend the cheap stuff he sells. So everyone reading all this, take everything he says with a grain of salt.......
This was the same guy who slammed Dave J & the T2 back when his M6 was the best thing since sliced bread. So this guy is all over the map. Loves the cheap plastic 2 lb detectors only because he's a dealer now.....(he tries to keep all that secret though). The king of spinning drawbacks into a positive.....

Though a few shills with bounty hunter ties will still hammer me for this thread, I'm getting all kinds of e-mails saying "thanks for telling it like it is". I don't have any financial stake in this like Andy. Maybe I'm tried of paying the freight to get all my first texas built units fixed. This is my second T2, and if another F75 coil goes bad on me, well that's going to E-bay & I'm calling to demand a call tag. You folks want to buy all these new rebranded things, great have fun. Hope you find alot of great things. But save your sales recipt, I bet your going to need it.......

One last thing for Andy. Funny you even dared bring up my often imitated video's when yours are basically the laughing stock of the hobby:crylol: If they are not in German, they are in really terrible broken English and basically unwatchable here in the USA. But really that's great for me.....they make my video's look like the best ones

Naah.. but I did stay at a Motel 6 in the U.P. a couple years ago. Cheap booze will do that to you.

Hey I like the looks of the Omega as well. When they get done fiddling with the sofware (I'm only assuming that thats the hold up cuz ya know they are always wanting to add the latest ideas) it should be a good'un.

Tom

and they say guys from Michigan and Ohio can't be buds. Puhshaw.

I feel this thread has wandered waaaay off course. And there

Actually, I thought Andy's tutorial on the Delta was outstanding. Easily understandable and in perfect English. The Delta was my first new detector (I've only been at it for a couple months) and his tutorial helped me understand the equipment much better. I'm having a great time with this detector. My experience with Tekentics has also been excellent. I've found them very responsive to my concerns and the reacted immediately when I discovered a programming glitch in the system. They provided me with a new machine and did everything possible to keep me happy. My main concern now is whether to get the Omega or a T2. My hunting buddy swears by it.

All the back and forth going on in this forum doesn't bother me a bit. Quite entertaining, actually. Have at it, boys! :starwars:

Bill Ladd makes videos for First Texas, has a picture of himself using a Fisher, and then calls First Texas out for the new Teknetics line? Wow, he's got my respect. I don't know him personally, but am now sure he's not a shill for anyone. From now on, if he touts a detector as being good, I'll certainly take a long look at it. This is contrary to the guy who has his own Fisher website, thinks all First Texas products are great, and that the F75 is the holy grail. I always took him with a grain of salt. An obvious company shill.

Yeah we be mellowin in our old age. Just like a good Whiskey or Rum we gets sweeter.

Dang near hit 30 degrees today... saw some nice sights! ;)

da Jackpine wilde
enjoyin some Sailer Jerry Rum tonite

and to at least make a feeble attempt to keep this on topic...... was it some hot two legged Alpha Beta Omegas Gammas?

pretty feeble but to coin an old phrase... Nice Gams ... or is that Gammas?

Was that on topic enuff??

You don't have to slot your T2/F75 or hack something together. I bought arm straps that are made for these units recently, they look good and work well and there isn't a slot to be seen on my detector either. If you want to see what they look like go to the big auction site and search for "f-75 strap".

And as far as the headphones, I don't care about the summer heat. All they cover is my ears. I haven't noticed that has made me any hotter. If I'm spending my time doing this, I'm looking for good stuff, older stuff, deep stuff. If all I cared about was clad junk and pitted zinc cents, cheap MP3 phones wouldn't be a problem, but when I'm out that's the LAST thing I want to dig (besides pulltabs and bottlecaps). And I can't get that using cheap headphones. So I do not see that as a plus by any means. If cheap was all I was worried about, the best thing I could do is not buy a metal detector at all - that's as cheap as it gets.

Frankly, I don't even see 500 or 600 dollars as being "cheap", which some of these units are being sold at. I paid 800 for my T2 in 2006. I personally am not interested in spending that kind of money on machines that are just thrown together with bargain parts - bargain for the manufacturer who pockets the profits and tries to convince me I got a deal that is.

Let's just call it like it is. I gotta go with Bill here. I think he's pretty much right on the ball and they know it. Me, I'm glad there are people who aren't willing to be bought for a prototype detector gift or the like, and who can tell it like it is. That will only improve the state of the hobby. If everyone is saying "yes" to everything they do even if we know it's the wrong move, how are things going to irmprove?

There are still people who hesitate to buy a T2 or F75/70 because of the association with the "El cheapo" brand, which is certainly costing FT $$$. You may not care, but you can bet their bean counters do. In fact I did quite a bit of research on the T2 before I bought one, and what held me back for a while was the fact that it was made by the outfit that sells their detectors in Kmart and Walmart, the kind that serious hobbyists see as a joke. When you've already got the Bounty Hunter line filling that role, what do you need to add the Teknetics line to that for, competition for your own low priced stuff? I'd love to hear the logic behind that. Some marketing genius in action no doubt. And that is really a shame because the T2 is an excellent metal detector and far from a joke, yet the brand name is going to be associated with this stuff. Same with Fisher.

Just makes me think for my next detector, I'm going to be looking at the other brands as FT seems to have no clue what we serious hobbyists are looking for. I will tell them flat out, it ISN'T sitting next to the laundry soap in Walmart.

And I would add.....don't talk trash about our machines either. The self proclaimed "serious hobbyists" should keep this in mind.....for many of us "amatuer" "El cheapo" owners IT"S A HOBBY!! And we enjoy getting out with our "El cheapo" brand metal detectors and finding lots of junk and, if lucky, some of the good stuff once in a while. If it wasn't for the "El cheapo" brand some of us wouldn't be metal detecting at all. If what you want is a $1500.00 detector but you buy a $200.00 or $300.00 detector instead then maybe you shouldn't complain that it doesn't measure up to the more expensive detector's quality or performance standards. Besides, the company that produces the "El cheapo" detectors seems to take pretty good care of us when we have problems with our machines.

I can't speak for the rest of my fellow "amatuer detectorists" but I am happy with my "El cheapo" and it keeps me busy diggin as long as I can stay out each and every time I have the good fortune to use it.

Hi Everyone,

Writing from South Belgium  ...and for the first time on this forum! Interesting explanations!!! Now I'm on the way to buy... one of those. the question is: delta or gamma??? What's the real difference(s) between D and G? Is it more simple with the D? More efficient or exact or easier (more indications on the large screen) with the G? Is it enough to justify the difference of price?

There supposed to be also Teknetics Alfa. Where I can see picture and description of this detector?
