Anyone know if Minelab has any plans on a new water detector coming out anytime soon

Why??????

Excaliburs would be less expensive, better overall and more usefull to those who buy most of them! Maybe you are the owner of one of the other metal detecting companies?

They will never B less expensive, better overall for who? Do you really think that if those mods were that much in demand Minelab would not jump on them in a minute? I actually think they are UNDER priced now. Ya I own Whites, Garrett & Fisher (got 2 F-75's 4 land)

No I meant jokingly the actual owner of the companies.

Nice group you've got there.

You of course are right. They are too cheap and that makes everyone and their mothers getting one since the price of gold has shot up.

You also seem to have every one of your Excaliburs modified. That's what everyone I know does.....modify the heck out of them making them way better than the factory ever did. So everyone I know anyways....that's who!

If I see an un modified Excalibur using the factory shaft, 9 times out of 10 I know that they are new to the hobby. They will learn eventually that there are things to do that makes the Excalibur better.

I agree but you will notice that there is ONE unmodified excal2 in the group. That one is for SCUBA where all I have to do is change out the shaft and in super heavy surf where it is too hard to handle the WOT & too junky to use a PI. I have only minor modded the others with Peltor cups (My hearing high tone is shot) straight shaft (I hunt long hours and 4-6 days a week, Added a waterproof connector on one for coil change in the event the WOT coil ever went south (the other one that is hard wired will get one when that happens) as the more ground you cover and the deeper you can detect a target the more success you will have. I also changed out the knobs to make them easier to turn when hands are wet but I really only needed to change 2 on-off threshold and sens which may get turned once and a while from 3 o'clock to 2 or visa versa-the others never get moved. I can also tell you that from thousands of hours of hunting the excal/WOT that there IS NO INCREASE IN DETECTION DEPTH BY HUNTING IN PP here in FL
I also think $2500.00 would also be a good starting price on the Excal:clapping:

Why would you as a consumer want to see the price of a detector double? Maybe you got some deep pockets and don't want to compete with other hunters.

Hmmm... the Pin Point vs Discriminate debate. Of course you may be right and maybe I'm just used to hunting in pin point. It's just what I prefer and It seems to me to be deeper.

With my Excalibur II 1500, (1500 because it has a 14.75" WOT coil), pin point has always seemed to have been deeper for me. I spend all the winter in Florida on the west and east coasts. I've had so many times that while hunting in pin point, I find a target and then go to discriminate and............Nothing! It could also be that I have my Excalibur adjusted to hunt optimally in pin point and that hunting in discriminate requires different settings. I wonder if that is the case?

But, I will say this......I have also found that often on really trashy areas, pin point is counter productive and discriminate is the only way to go. On non beach areas, I use discriminate and then pin point. On the clean saltwater beaches, then I hunt pin point and then discriminate to get a better idea of what it is.

I think a shootout video is in order to set the record straight on the pin point vs discriminate argument. One guy who supports the discriminate argument and one who supports the pin point argument.

In the water, I hunt discriminate and do not use pin point at all. I just don't want to dig down a couple of feet in neck deep water anyways.

I'm going to try a Doc's treasure screamer amp to see how well it works this winter on the beaches in Florida. I've got some ideas on how to water proof it. Old Beechnut's videos have shown how well it works and I just have to try it!

You look like you've got all the bases covered with those detectors. I should have kept a few of mine that I sold but I found that if I concentrate on one detector, then I can make it a part of me. I'm on my fifth Excalibur as I wore out a few of them. Winter time for me is time to hit the beaches. I also spend 6 to 10 hours a day 6 days a week in the winter on the Florida beaches.
