anyone here tried the new DD coil for the ace 250?

I finally got out today to try the EQ2 coil. I went to a Tot Lot I had hunted with my standard coil before the snow & ice of winter.

Today I was getting good strong signals at 8" for dimes and some quarters. Unfortunately "SILLY ME" I forgot that just because it was 52 deg today,
the ground was still frozen at 2" depth.:surprised:

I will have to wait for a couple of weeks to see if these we qualified readings but LOOKS PROMISING.:detecting:

Can't wait till you give some more reports..
Does it need a coil cover?
Thanks for the update..

Happy Hunting
Bruce

Bruce 1036,

I called Kellyco and they don't have a cover for it.

Unless you have highly mineralized soil it's a complete waste of time and money over a concentric coil of the same size. Nothing magic about a DD coil plus it sucks in discrimination up against a concentric of the sme size.

Bill

DD coils and concentric coils of the same diameter in the same type of dirt get equal depth. One does not surpass the other. There seems to be some mystiyque conjured up around DD coils that doest exist..

Bill

That's true Bill. In my moderate soil with the 9x12 coil it can go deeper than I care to dig sometimes. Even with the sens at 5 bars 8 inches on a dime is easy. A measured 8 inch deep hole is deep! I have dug deeper on the fresh sand and bark chips. I would only use the big DD coils on salt beaches (if I ever get out of Missouri?) Or hot soil. (my soil is mild) Or got one heck of a good price on one.

The 9x12 will find all a feller cares to dig and your arm will be in better shape at the end of the day. They get into overkilll on too much of this stuff..

Good straight talk, thanks. I can't see paying near the same for a coil as what my detector cost, when a coil at about half the price (factory 9x12) will bring the same improvements.

I have an ace 250 with a 6.5"x9", and a 9"x12" coils what if anything would the 8.5"x11" DD coil do for me
hope someone can help
Thanks Joe

Yes, I have had one for a year or 2. Its ok. sometimes in parks you get to many targets in there. Works good at the beach though. I will probably sell it becauses I have the PRO now!

If your hunting highly materialized ground then the DD coil is for you. But the 9x12 is no slouch. Once I got that coil I never looked back at the stock coil. I would suggest buying the Sniper coil though.
