Anyone happy with the MPX?

I am starting to have second thoughts about my MPX I purchased from KellyCo. The first one I received would show/ flash the $.50 icon and give the audio signal, but without the strength of signal indication. It would just do it all the time. I tried various Disc modes and Sens modes. I called KellyCo and they had me ship it back. One thing about the machine though, when you did hit a coin it was right on the money as far as ID'ing it. I received MPX #2 last week, and I finally got a chance yesterday to work it over. Something didn't seem right, so I brought it home to do some dry runs on it. I pulled out clad and silver, plus other items and this is what I found:

Clad or silver $.25 would show up as $.50 or would jump back and forth from on to the other.

Clad or sliver $.10 on the money

Pennies - Copper would show up as $.10. That is understandable and acceptable! Zinc would show up as pull tabs or gold rings. That is acceptable

Nickles would shoe up as whatever the machine felt like.

Gold would show up as bottle caps, pull tabs, and nails. Even the gold rings would not show up as gold rings.

Question, am I being too "demanding" on this machine? I MD about 5 to 6 days a week and have used a BH Tracker IV with good results. I was looking for something to coin shoot with to save me from digging when I don't have time to mess around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One reason I don't want to ship this one back is I have to pay the shipping. I was wounded in Iraq in 2003, I use MD'ing as exercise and my income is not the best living on disability. I mean the shipping ain't too bad, but to be returning a machine that has issues (first MPX) out of my pocket is taking grocery money out of my pocket. Am I being too demanding in that respect?

I cant make up you mind for you, but the BH Land Star is a dollar cheaper at
Kellyco....Ive got one and I LOVE It. It is about 85-90% accurate on the display
With of course the exception of cans...and it also has ground balance if needed, but has
auto preset which I use most of the time. I'm sure BH-LandStar will back me up on this.
When I was looking for a detector I thought seriously about the MPX...But rapidly changed my mind
because I had a BH already, and never heard anything about a MP???..not even in any forums.

Well thats my 2 bits

I've seen some ill comments on that machine on another forum. I personally know nothing about the MPX, but do know there are a couple of good detectors out in the $200.00 price range. Namely, the F2 and Ace 250. Good luck with your decision and thank you for serving. HH jim tn

over the last forty years of mding i have found two five dollar gold pieces and numerous pieces of gold jewelry.it has been my experience that gold shows up on the low range of all the different machines ive owned.faint tin foil signals are my favorite.i dont understand why a nickle signal is all over the place, this is not normal.a quarter to fifty cent bouce happens every now and then, but if should not be a normal thing on the machine.i would talk to kelly co about a trade,i have heard the ace 250 is a good machine.good luck i hope the thing works out for you.
