REDSXFN said:I just received an email indicating my pre order dated Oct 14, 2017 for the Equinox 800 has been fulfilled. I also received a FedEx tracking number. Hopefully other Customers, with pre orders will start getting similar emails.
Always Curious said:Blame Minelab not KellyCo. Even though it had a pretty good idea of demand, given the preorders, Minelab has created an artificial shortage, doling out the Equinox a few units at a time to the dealers, to add to and prolong the hoopla. Maybe KellyCo customers have been worse effected, given that Minelab and Kelly''s have apparently had a falling out (Kelly's no longer repair agent) while at the same time KellyCo seems to have gotten more preorders than most dealers, but I doubt it. Predictable marketing shenanigans on Minelab's part, and not much that can be done about it except wait.

Robert Vaughn said:Years ago I paid full price for Compass X 80 from Kellyco. I noticed that it had touch up paint over some scratches on it when it arrived and also had a small dent on the box and no warranty card. I called Kellyco and they Assured me the detector was New and that the factory had probably just touched up some blemishes in the paint. Also Kellyco said that they would have the warranty registered at Compass since the warranty card was missing. Long story short The X 80 started running erratic about 3 months after purchase. Sent it to Compass for repair and learned that the warranty for this detector had been registered to someone else a full two years before I bought the NEW unit from Kellyco. Since then I have always bought from the smaller dealers and have since had nothing but good experiences. Richard at Backwoods is one of those GREAT smaller dealers out there. I have made several recent purchases with him and I can tell you that he treats you RIGHT
First I am sure they know pretty much what each other is up to.RichW said:That makes no sense to me. If I were Minelab I'd want to sell as many detectors as I could and as fast as I could. Let's suppose Fisher announced Monday they were coming out with a great new multipurpose waterproof machine with incredible features. (not likely) but what if. I would think many of the Equinox preorders would disappear. A deliberate shortage strategy could blow up in their face.
Always Curious said:For sure, KellyCo should have told customers the truth, and should have filled orders in sequence as it said it would. But, otherwise, it may be the victim of Minelab. Apparently, they had a falling out (KellyCo is no longer ML service rep). While it's impossible to be sure, it does not seem to have been getting as many units of the Equinox in proportion to its preorders as other dealers. Maybe someone will tell us, someday.
