Anyone get their Equinox from Kellyco yet??

REDSXFN said:
I just received an email indicating my pre order dated Oct 14, 2017 for the Equinox 800 has been fulfilled. I also received a FedEx tracking number. Hopefully other Customers, with pre orders will start getting similar emails.

REDSXFN, Congrats! If you don’t mind me asking, where did you order from? Can’t wait to hear how you like it.

My order was placed with KellyCo. I am equally excited to put the 800 thru its tests. I have been using the Garrett AT Pro almost exclusively,so it will interesting to compare the two.

Blame Minelab not KellyCo. Even though it had a pretty good idea of demand, given the preorders, Minelab has created an artificial shortage, doling out the Equinox a few units at a time to the dealers, to add to and prolong the hoopla. Maybe KellyCo customers have been worse effected, given that Minelab and Kelly''s have apparently had a falling out (Kelly's no longer repair agent) while at the same time KellyCo seems to have gotten more preorders than most dealers, but I doubt it. Predictable marketing shenanigans on Minelab's part, and not much that can be done about it except wait.

I’m blaming KellyCo for their incompetence, Minelab has nothing to do with that. Yes the snafu with short supply and trickling availability is on Minelab. But my problem is KellyCo and their handling of this. They have been silent, and when I contacted them, they were less than helpful. Like I posted earlier, KellyCo, not Minelab was quick to tell me ALL ORDERS are being filled in ORDER RECEIVED, when I asked why Mr ________ who ordered AFTER me had received his two weeks ago, the customer service person said that was a lie. Minelab didn’t call me a liar, KellyCo did.

Now fellow forum user REDSXFN is yet another example of this exact issue that purportedly doesn’t exist. I ordered mine on Sep 20th, he ordered his on Oct 14th (by my count 24 days after my pre paid purchase), he is receiving his while I’ve not heard anything but an accusation that I was not being truthful. This is a KellyCo problem, not Minelab.

That makes no sense to me. If I were Minelab I'd want to sell as many detectors as I could and as fast as I could. Let's suppose Fisher announced Monday they were coming out with a great new multipurpose waterproof machine with incredible features. (not likely) but what if. I would think many of the Equinox preorders would disappear. A deliberate shortage strategy could blow up in their face.

I'm sure there will soon be others, but I just received a email from Kellyco and tracking information that mine has shipped. I ordered early Oct.

Thanks for the info Coherent! It’s just more evidence that I was right all along. Orders are not being filled in order received, just as I explained to the customer service rep. So frustrating, but I did learn a valuable lesson.

Years ago I paid full price for Compass X 80 from Kellyco. I noticed that it had touch up paint over some scratches on it when it arrived and also had a small dent on the box and no warranty card. I called Kellyco and they Assured me the detector was New and that the factory had probably just touched up some blemishes in the paint. Also Kellyco said that they would have the warranty registered at Compass since the warranty card was missing. Long story short The X 80 started running erratic about 3 months after purchase. Sent it to Compass for repair and learned that the warranty for this detector had been registered to someone else a full two years before I bought the NEW unit from Kellyco. Since then I have always bought from the smaller dealers and have since had nothing but good experiences. Richard at Backwoods is one of those GREAT smaller dealers out there. I have made several recent purchases with him and I can tell you that he treats you RIGHT

LOL, I swore off kellyco decades ago for similar treatment. A buddy of mine ordered a brand new detector and the one he received had dirt and grass on the coil! They refused to admit to anything and refused refund or compensation. Their CS has always sucked (after they got your money, they dont care about your problem)

I have always understell that Kellyco “order takers” are actually sales reps on commission. This may be why good info is hard to get and orders are being filled out of sequence.

First I am sure they know pretty much what each other is up to.
Sony has done this for years. If they can sell 1000 of something they build 950. Its done to keep inventory low & prices high. Also keeps demand up.
There is also an informal price fix. If you sell things too cheap suddenly you get rationed. Order 20 of a model & only get ten. The message soon
sinks in. Only time anything got discounted was usually when they made the last run of a top of line set. They make as many as they can
then discount them heavily to dump them fast. I bought a 34" wide screen HD CRT set for $800 that listed for over 2 K..........
As far as Kco goes I have seen too much over the years so dont deal with them. I stick with my local ML dealer. He HAS to treat you right
to stay in business, Kco may have just too big for Mom & Pop service.

For sure, KellyCo should have told customers the truth, and should have filled orders in sequence as it said it would. But, otherwise, it may be the victim of Minelab. Apparently, they had a falling out (KellyCo is no longer ML service rep). While it's impossible to be sure, it does not seem to have been getting as many units of the Equinox in proportion to its preorders as other dealers. Maybe someone will tell us, someday.

From my perspective, I don’t see how Minelab is at fault for KellyCo’s shortcomings. Is Minelab to blame for the bottleneck, and trickling supply??? Absolutely! But in no way did Minelab force KellyCo to fill orders out of order, Minelabs didn’t force KelkyCo to be rude and unhelpful. KellyCo alone is to blame for their poor actions. And KellyCo will reap what they’ve sown, I’d quickly buy another Minelab someday (ETrac 2 with MultiIQ!!!) But I can certainly say I’ll never spend another zinc cent with KellyCo.

Day 168 since prepaid preorder. Still not a peep.

I saw how they treated everyone on the AT Pro when it came out. I still buy the small stuff like a coil but not a MD. I placed my order in late January with my dealer but when they came in everyone in front had just given up and spent money on other items. I just happen to have the cash and got mine first. Lucky me. Just now starting to get a chance to use it though.

My dealer is worsted than Kellyco. I was put on the list on Oct 14. What he is doing is blasting an email out for anyone on the list and then he adds inventory to the online system. First come, first serve.
