Anyone else notice that you can almost never get exactly what you want?

So whats the real reason behind your post? Why would you come on a forum, one sponsored by a brand you have never used, and rip the manufacturer?

Why would Tesoro want to build crappy machines like the new Fisher company does? Tesoro doesn't have to build anything to compete with the F-series. Fisher's own quality shoots them in the foot and every day more and more users walk away from them. But again, thats why you have made this nauseous post. You want someone with high quality standards to build one of the new machines that has caught your fancy. Too late. Fisher has already urinated on that design and no one else will touch it.

Tesoro products have competed with all the manufactures out there since day one and their lineup still competes today. They may not have all the bells and whistles of the lastest cell phone but they'll hunt as they are with anything else out there.

I use Tesoro machines most of the time.
I had a Little Yeller Feller.
NOT to say bad things about them, they are a fun machine to use, and I liked the multiple notch capability if I only wanted to catch quarters right near the surface.. LoL! THAT was fun...Set it to only bong on quarters and run across a park getting them only!

The bell-bong noise got really annoying after a while, though.
Sweep speed required was much slower.
Recovery time is far slower than any tesoro I've used.
I never ran across a deep target... even that I could choose to ignore.
After using Tesoro's for so long, attempting to pinpoint with the Little Yeller Feller was a nightmare!
Even after reading all the nice advice!

IMO, a Compadre is a far superior machine.
Silver uMax... well, that's night and day superior.

Best,

i think charlie has "issues" with the color of his detectors!..guess he thinks the little yella fella is a bannana, and the rest of the line up looks like somebody"puked" on 'em!

I'll give you a point for your statement that the Garrett is cheaper, but it is not as good or better than the Cortes. I have had both machines, and the Cortes is superior in every way. The Garrett was a toy.

Dan.

You're absolutely right about Garrett detectors being toys. I have a GTI2000 and a GTI2500 and neither one are the Deep Seekers that they claim. And don't get me started on how inaccurate their target ID's are. I've got too many hobbies going at one time, but soon as I get time I'm getting a new detector, the Cortes. I'll bet it is more accurate and detects deeper than either Garrett I have. I just wish I would have bought the Tesoro first and saved a lot of money that Garrett separated me from.

Mike, you have touched on something about the new Fishers that has kept me from getting one and that is it can be a good one, one that doesn't work at all or one that is having some issues that needs to be sent back in for fixing and then maybe they don't fix it after it is sent back in. I don't know about others but that is just plain scary to me. Now I am not trying to run down the new Fisher but I do think they will need to bring up their standards on quality before they can really compete with the Whites, ML's and Tesoros lineups, no offense to Garrett as they have good quality also. Any brand can have a detector here and there that needs fixing but I think FT comes in dead last on this issue.
JMHO.

OK William JB, if Tesoro doesn't offer what you want get it from a different manufacturer. You were in the automotive industry, you know different automakers have different strengths and weaknesses. No reason it shpuld be any different with the metal detecting industry.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a lifetime warranty costs a company significantly more on the back end than a 2 year or 5 year warranty.

I could be way off base here, but I'm thinking a TID machine might be a considerably more expensive proposition with a lifetime warranty than a beep and dig unit. Maybe that's why Tesoro hasn't come out with a low cost TID machine.

I'd be willing to bet when Tesoro comes out with its' next new machines that they'll be good ones and not just put out for the sake of having new machines to hype.

Quitcha'bellyachin', bub! Just buy a Compadre (the best low priced unit available in
the hobby) and get out there and try to enjoy life and this greatest of hobbies!:argue:
