Anyone dig those 12:40 readings???

I dug a 12:40 last night out in a field I've been hunting a got a real nice large cape button. Possibly late 1700's, early 1800's. When field hunting I dig nearly every signal from say 12:07/08 and up. Dig a lot of trash but have made some amazing finds. And the trash targets get recycled and I get paid. You never know till you dig.

Location, location use your head. I dig them all day at colonial sites. There's so much that hits that number range.

Todd is exactly right. It really depends on your location. Dig 'me all day long in the fields not so much in the trashy parks.

It's been wheats for me in that range.

With my E-trac.. 95% of the time a 12-40 has been an aluminum screw cap. Last night, however, I dug a 12-40 and was pleased to find a '41 Merc.

Actually , take my prior comment back. 12,40 produced a barber quarter today. Had 2 wheats in same hole skuwing numbers i guess. 9" deep had impact too, i guess. Wont dig same at 4 " still!

I usually dig them all in the field, but never in the parks. I played extra close attention this weekend and of the two 12-40 signals I came across, both were junk (an old masterlock key and a bottle top).
