Any one heard anything on a new high end whites detector to be released.

Yes Coils in a way are antenna's. They send a signal (which you need an antenna) and it receives a signal( you need an antenna). With any type of signal you need a receiver and transmitter to send a signal or wave length of any type and sending and receiving you need some sort of antenna. It is pure principle and it is a theological law. You need a sending unit and a receiving unit and this is a magnetic field which when you look at radio waves they have magnetic fields as well. The unit has to send and receive. Thus causing a magnetic field which can be interupted by another electronic device. Hence this is how you can Jam a signal or get a cross signal which is static. You can also get a double signal if the wave lengths are equally opposite. There is what they call splatter. This can all be found on any Amature radio web site. This is why some pin pointers interfere with the metal detector signal. They can both be opposites or they can work in harmonense.

Another thing to think about is the pin pointers. Why do they interfere with metal detectors when they are put away on the belt or pouch? if they only have a small magnetic field then it should not interfere with the Metal detector hence they are like an antenna they send a signal and receive a signal. If the pointer is to only detect up to 2 inches in most cases then they shouldn't effect the workings of a MD. But since alot of people say their pointer does interfere then it is transmitting a signal so slight that the MD can pick this up. If the MD can pick this up the Magnetic field then the coil is acting like an antenna. The same reason being if I had an amature radio that transmitted on the same frequency then I can transmit a signal powerful enough that the coil can and will pick it up. In the USA the radio frequencies are regulated as well as allotted to certain groups of classification. You can only send a signal with so much power that if you exceed those limits you will get a different reading as well as interfere with other transmitters. Same thing in Canada here I can take my scanner and radio transmitter go to a radio controlled flying club send a signal that some one is using and jam their signal. Another thing you can do find some one who is running a CB radio. They have to run 100 wats I think when you are near the antenna take a light bulb and hold it close to the antenna. The magnetic field will light the bulb up with out you having any power on the bulb. use a 40 watt light bulb. This is magnetic field used while a signal is being transmitted. Check out http://www.arrl.org/ This will give you lots of info and more under standing

Also you might want to watch on the Discovery channel how's it made. Garret had a segment on there how they make MDs and yes they had to make sure it operates on the right frequency.
