Any luck guys with sef coils?

I was wondering honestly if I should get a new coil like the Sef 10x12dd. It s got be posted before but any new ideas would be a lot of help, especially on which. The black Sef is better or white?

If you use the search option I'm sure you fill find posts I have made. You will not find that the SEF is greatly better than the 10D2. It will give better coverage because it is 2" longer. It is reported to give a little more depth, I would take reports with a grain of salt. 1" more is realistic. It also can handle bad soil s little better.

If you spend the money you need to get the White Model.

Now if all your coins are 8" or less a little more depth is no advantage. I'm not saying the 10D2 only goes 8" deep. If your sites are not wide open with less trash you don't need the greater coverage. If your soil is not bad you don't need the advantage of handling bad ground a little better.

I have said this coils are a personal choice. Go on the other forum, the 6x10 is the greatest thing since the invention of popcorn. With the guys here not so much. Your hunting style, targets looked for, and types of sites need to be considered.

Rob the targets remain are deeper now cause the sites I ve got remain for hunt they ve been hunted already. So if not a Sef 10x12dd is there any other even a bit bigger for hunting coins with good results, any comments on posts I would be glad to hear. Thank's.

IMHO, 10x12 is about the largest coil for coin sized targets.

Sorry you never got one. I was sure they were going to make good. Too bad.:stars:

Yes, doing well with the 10X12 SEF coil, just recently found a 1854 Seated Liberty quarter!! (see story on second pg or so) Finding deep targets with it. My SEF coil is black, thats the color I got when I purchased it about a year ago. I can run it hot & still be pretty stable. I hear the 10X12 SEF only come in white for the V3i

I'm not sure I understand Cypearl. If we are talking about Burlbark, He tried to get a White SEF which is optimized for the V3i. None of those he got worked as they should. Most of the black SEF don't allow full RX and run a higher signal lose. The White ones were suppose to solve this problem.

Inever understood why they would make two models. If the white ones worked on the V3i they would work on any of th E series. Whites doesn't make a V and non V model.

Forgive me about that. I thought like, sef coils ve been lost from planet or something, now i see burlbark was saying about they did n't worked properly .

That is correct and his and some others experience. My first one was bad. They weren't really bad, they just were not optimized as they were advertised. Guys expected to be able to run them RX15 and with boost. My second one will run RX15 with the boost on. I don't hunt with RX 15 or RX 15 with boost when I hunt.

Well, but what about when you are in a good ground with low mineralization and little trash? you still can't get high sensitivity?

Usually NO. If you don't get a good one you will overload in the air trying for RX15 or RX 15 with boost. If the coil NULL is not good enough then you can't run 3 frequency or at least not at a high gain. The more the null is off the less gain can be run. If you get a good one all will be fine.

Non V rated Whites coils have a larger tolerance. So the odds say that some will have the same NULL as a V rated coil. However, it also means that some will not have a good enough null to run on a V3i. It's a crap shoot. I sold a 6x10 coil cheap because the null was not as good as I wanted for my V3i. The guy I sold it to ran an MXT and on this machine it is a perfect coil.

It's the frequency not the ground.
