Any feed back on a fisher F-5

Would appreciate any feed back on a the "Silver Killer" F-5 .Thank you cjm

The F5 is a silver killer and it has one of, if not the best screen setup for any detector made. I always ran my threshold at zero with a wide open screen(no disc). I was always slightly below max with my gain. The deep coins were a mere whisper but would just about always repeat. Good headphones will help with these deep coins. I also found the 11 inch Fisher dd coil seemed to get an extra inch or two of depth over the 10 inch elliptical. I had one of the best days ever with the F5. I found 5 silver coins in one hour and all were single digs(no coin spills) Other than the famed CZ series, I believe the F5 was Fisher's best coin detector.

I run an F5 and agree with RLOH. I have the 11”DD and factory 5”. The 5” is a pinpoint dead eye, best up close to metal fences and trashy ground. Also very maneuverable around trees and tight spots. I upgraded to Grey Ghost headphones and glad I did. Deepest coin so far was a quarter at 8-9” and pinpointer was blimping 9-10” so thats pretty accurate. Weight is good and easy to run for 3-4 hrs, battery life is pushing 35-40 hrs on 2 9 volts. No backlight on screen, only gripe I have is the point where you plug in the coil is a bitch to screw and unscrew with just your fingers. I carry a miniature standard jaw pliers in my pack and it works great

The F5 and the Omega 8000 have that super sweet soft silver tone. The omega is my favorite park and yard machine when the trash isn’t to thick and the good stuff is down to about 8”. It’s my favorite for cherry picking high tones as well. They have great ID down to the edge of detection. They do come up a bit short when it’s real trashy or you need extra depth IMO.

I also run the F5, I've had mine for over 6 years now & I've got a lot of hours looking at that screen and listening to those tones.
I also run the 11" DD coil, in good soil I can get soft whisper tone down at the 8" level, quarters down to the 9" level.
Just recently I moved my threshold setting to positive 3, was running 0, found that actually increases my depth another half inch.

Well, you would know it would have to come to this ,at this point the choice between choosing an F-5 VS a F-75+ BOTH come with the big coil. Have to make a tough choice guys the f-5 is a 9.5 near perfect,the F-75 + is new ,no experience with 75 +

way back when I tried the F5, I had an Omega 8000, and for urban coin hunting of the two I preferred the Omega 8000. I had every coil for it at the time, and narrowed my use down to the 5 in. Double D in trashier or confined areas. I had very close dubstep performance between the elliptical 10 in concentric and 11 inch BiAxial coil. Then one day out of curiosity I swapped an 8-inch concentric off of a Delta and found that I like it just about as much as the other two. It pinpointed slightly better than the elliptical concentric, and my deeper targets locked on the little better then the 11 in. DD coil and I was still getting the deeper coins in my mineralize ground at about the same depth.

I parted with the F5 and preferred design engineer David Johnson's favorite, the Omega 8000.

Considering a newer model or a very Choice used model? And your pic is between the F 5 and F 75? My suggestion is to pause and think through the type of sites you plan to hunt. If they are treasure types of sites that have a lot of iron nails or other ferrous debris in close proximity, I would consider a different detector. I have owned three F75 models, and they are good detectors but not the best in very challenging in very challenging dence ferrous debris. Neither are the F5 or Omega, or some of the modern comparable models like f44. All of those are very good Urban coin hunting detectors, but not good picks for very challenging sites.

Fisher F75 and teknetics T2 models are still currently offered. But they are also trailing quite a bit when it comes to Modern design features, technology, and performance. They're still new, but they are aged and ought to soon be replaced.

Don't take me wrong, because I and a good example of someone who still enjoys buying and using older or discontinued models. In my current detector inventory I have two Nokta CoRe and a Relic, a Tesoro Bandido II microMAX and Silver Sabre microMAX, and I'm adding a White's XLT. All of those are discontinued models in two of the manufacturers are now out of business.

I've had more, and just last year ended with me selling to as new Omega 8000's. One of my favorite Urban coin hunting detectors, but I send them with others because 90% to 95% of my detecting is in very littered Relic hunting sites where iron abounds.

So I'm just reminding or suggesting that you consider all the sites you plan to search before making a purchase. I really like the ergonomics of the F75, but if the F5 is a better value with coils and price, and you can't think of a newer or modern detector to get, then I personally take the F5.
