Weight is not a big factor because it could be hip mounted, so no issue there... BUT, the biggest down fall I had ( when i used one MANY yrs ago ) was it frequently miss ID deep iron washers or bottle cap as coins. Yes, it does work very good on salt water beaches as was mentioned. My bro still swings one. Great detector that can out-produce most new machines. Deep, quiet, simple and works great on salt beaches. Biggest con is it's heavy.
Where would you send it for repairs. It's working fine but I just want to be prepared.I got my cz5 in 1997 and steal using it. I hip mount it. Found a lot of stuff with it. The 8 inch coil will get a dime about 10 inches in my ground.
Do you know if any larger coils are available for it?I got my cz5 in 1997 and steal using it. I hip mount it. Found a lot of stuff with it. The 8 inch coil will get a dime about 10 inches in my ground.
Wondering if Fisher made a new doctor that's comparable to the older cz5.Weight is not a big factor because it could be hip mounted, so no issue there... Thanks mucho!Yeah my bro hates deep square nails but some have figured out how to reduce falses.
Yes, there is a 10" coil and a small one too.
NASA Tom is the CZ guy.

Wow.I have a NASA Tom tuned CZ-5 that I use often! It does a great job and will give a lot of the newer machines a good run for their money.
They way to get much better on identifying those targets is time on the machine. Listen to them in disc 0 and AutoATune (all metal). Non-ferrous signals are not as broad as ferrous signals are in AutoTune. Slow down the sweep in disc 0 and see if it drops low tone. Speed up the sweep and it can go high tone. Targets that go high tone when the sweep speed is quicker and low with a very slow sweep sweep are probably a little wider in AutoTune too; that is a give away for iron. Low tone to mid tone bounces are digs for me. Have pulled up a fair bounty of gold jewelry by digging the little bounces between low and mid-tone. I always shaft mount so I can readily flip between AutoTune and disc 0.Weight is not a big factor because it could be hip mounted, so no issue there...
