"It is caused by the gather of glass touching the base of the mold and then pulling away. Then the gather fills the mold for the final blow. So you get a ghosting effect. I think the gather pulls away from the changes in air pressure applied, not the repositioning of the gather. A B Co. is American Bottling Company." ( thank you, P D who gave me this information)
