Another reason not to dig zinc's !!

I'm down in FL taking care of my 102 year old Dad. If wind conditions are right I head out to Sanibel island for good shelling and some detecting. We had some good east winds and I wanted to see what it would do to the beach.
It carved out a nice 1-3 foot cut that has been productive the last few outings. This was the deepest cut and had hopes of some chunky gold. Last week I found 3 pieces of gold one after the other but they were the smallest lightest rings ever. Lucky to weight 2g. The cut produced only a handful of coins and a nice size silver ring.

Ive been here on a regular basis ever since hurricane Ian hit. I've been to many beaches looking for something old. Virtually nothing except just a few very worn silvers.

Lots of replenishment going on down here and I finally got to an island that sustained a ton of damage. I must say I was digging every target but after awhile due to pain and exhaustion I just couldn't dig another crusty zinc penny. Using the beach program on the Deus 2
Zinc's and most pull tabs ring in with a high tone. I carry the control unit in my pocket and only hunt by sound. Don't want to loose another remote !!!

Long story short I had to finally crank up the discrimination to 89
And just go for coins and silver.
There was only one piece of possible gold but I dug that early on in the hunt with scrim down at 6.

The zincs just wore me out !!
I was up at 4 and put in a good 5-6 hours !!!

That much sand digging will wear me down but you seemed to push through - nice finds

Nice hunt, but the zinc get to me too. I hunt with with Tone breaks on the D2 as a form of discrimination and it works great. Walking in the sand for many hours will beat me down for sure. HH :)yeah

At least your finding a new area I’m hunting has been very good lots of old silver obviously it’s not been detected and they dredged a swimming area and golds been showing up.

I hate digging zincs also, however that's right in the zone where I find .925 silver jewelry with the D2 (85 on up) land hunting.
Not sure if it's the specific program I use or a SMF thing, but I've found quite a bit of silver jewelry that rung up 85-86. While zinc's ring up 85 and under.
Silver dimes ring up 90-91, so I'm not sure if it is because of the alloy, shape or a combination of both.

You got 2 great spots. We're all drooling !!!!

Wish these Fl beaches were closer and didnt have a toll!!! Ive spent all my gold :) :) :):):)money !!!!
lol yeah lucky this beach is 10 minutes from home one town over free parking no tolls I did well saturday more silver
