in the air and hold it still. Noise cancel is NOT ground balance.
Your holding it up to receive freqencies 3 - 100KHz so the unit will know to NOT use those frequencies.

For starting off in a new area I recommend starting with Auto sensitivity.

i thought the noise cancel was to pick the channel with the less interference but you're saying it is to make sure the machine doesn't use frequencies 3-100.

OK Sky1, I will have to think that one over for a while.
I remember ground balancing my CZ 7 but, with that machine I was moving the coil up and down.
Any body care to add their thoughts?

It's not ground ballance on the saf,but elecric interference. What it does is scan from 3 to 100,eliminating those frequencies with interference,it then uses the cleanest group of frequencies it finds.
the bbs technology uses a group of frequencies spread out over the range it covers,so it is selecting a group that covers the whole range.
No ground ballance on the saf as it does this automaticaly in the magic box.

Well today I found some clean gound under some pine trees, I did the noise cancel with the coil in the air, no noise, did some coil swinging and one or two hits but no noise. I then checked the noise cancel with the coil on the ground, no noise again!
