Also going back in time a little

Well, I went old school tooo.. Found a 1266 X, Los Banos, White lower Shaft, White Spider coil, ABSOLUTELY NO scratches on the coi or cover, and the dual circuit board set up. I really have toooo many detectors, but at least I can just about hunt any environment that I travel to. I could not believe the air test I was getting with this machine, and honestly believe it is out shooting my F75 LTD w/o Boost. Any confirmation about this from the experienced users here, about the ability to get in the ground really deep.

"Ron WV"... I pm'd you about this earlier before I seen this thread....

You can NEVER have too many old-Fisher 1265-1266's! Its pretty amazing that as old as they are they still beat out *almost any detector on depth(in MY experiences anyhow)..It doesnt need a manual ground balance,DD coil, nor a screen,or a faster processor to STILL conquer!! .I cant believe they arent still being made!?..Duh!!! But I guess that if you make something that is built to last and preforms so-well for so long, That it kinda hurts future sales of other models!?...Grab em up while you still can!..... A 1265/6 was/is like a Zippo lighter..Reasonably priced, built of high quality to preform *outstandingly AND last.....Most others now (to me), are like the disposable Bic's.....

Years ago I used a 1266 for a couple weeks that eas brother in laws.Very nice unit,And very deep.
Its ashame that the 1270 are being discontinued. It would be nice of first texas to come out with their own version of a non metered relic machine.

Years ago I found a used TEK TURBO from the eighties. Not a whole lot of depth but it was made mainly for competition hunts. One
of the most unique looking machines I'd seen.
Controls are up under your fore arm and if I remember right it is just a toggle swithch in front of your hand.it was extremly well balanced.

When u are going through brush u have to watch out not getting the box hung on eveything in front of ya.
Having a unit where the box is out of the way would be nice.

I have never used a 1270. They changed the frequency, put it into a larger CZ box and added the iron disc stuff..I watched them for a while and really wanted to get one, but after reading some negative results on the 1270 from some well-seasoned 1266 owners/users, I changed my mind..Maybe now that I have seen some price droppage, I may get to test run someday!? But I'm certainly not getting my hopes up too high....

Just ordered a used 3 3/4" coil for my oldies, I love my 5" but I have never used one that little. Just wondering if I am going to little? Anybody have some thoughts on this?

The 3-3/4" is great for super trashy areas. You have to go at a snail's pace though. Cover your sweeps by a third.

Got some work to do on this one, it doesn't' t have the right connector on it, they said the original was damaged and was replaced. Well I guess I need to find the right end.

Also wondering what kind of depth you get out of that little guy.
