All Time Favorite

My 6000Di Series 3 hipmount. It was made as a hipmount, not a kit to make it one. Sorry I sold it years ago. Needed money for college.

One of my favorites would be an old BFO GoldMaster using the smaller coil, the earliest GoldMaster version using the 67.5 volt battery.

Man 'O Man Paul! That's one HUGE flywheel attached to the GoldMaster!

Thanks TC,

Those large wooden coils are big, but today took the old GoldMaster to a local school using the smaller wooden coil.

Actually, Used a number of vintage detectors today but kept the finds separate. Dug up $1.04 in clad with the GoldMaster and no trash, deepest coin was two inches deep.

The old BFO does an excellent job, discriminates iron with ease.

Thanks again,
Paul (Ca)

I just saw that battery...For Real??? 67.5 Volts??? That thing have tubes inside???

HH,

Hi Gopher,

Yes, this BFO does have tubes. In fact it's one of the earliest Whites metal detectors and these early models did not use headset just operated off a speaker.

Surprisingly, the 67.5 volt battery is still made for vintage electronics. They last well over 100 hours, but are expensive.

Several other metal detector companies used the 67.5 volt battery, so what I do is use the same battery for some of the other vintage models in my collection.

The picture shows the battery having 72 volts, but it's really a 67.5 volt rated battery.

Thanks for your interest,
Paul (Ca)

It would have to be the Eagle II SL 90 , Its Like a XLT But Better , See the downfall of the Eagle was wen the triger was pulled people had to Remember what it did?????????????????? But wen you learned it watch out!!!!!!!!! i Like my XL-Pro also , Im a old Whites guy after one year i
Traded my V3i off for two Detectors my XL-Pro and a Garrett Sea Hunter, mickfin

Started out with a TR machine : White's Alaskan hipmount. Graduated to GEB with a Coinmaster V Supreme that only had TR Discrimination and was HEAVY! (liked that double stacked tuner knob though). Then I discovered the wonders of GEB Disc with a 5000D Series 2. Next came the Coinmaster 6000di Series 3.
My all time favorite is the 5000D Series 2. With the Hip Mount Kit and a 10" coil , there wasn't a silver dime safe from me under 7 or 8 inches deep! I would disc out pulltabs and listen for those faint whispers that netted me many deep silvers. Ahh yes , the good old days.....:) !

The thing is Trapper I am still swinging the 6000 3 and the XL Pro

you gotta love that trigger on those Whites Analog Detectors, Magic.

I'm swinging an E-trac now but I still have the ole 6000/di for a backup. Seriously contemplating looking for another 5000 series 2 as I still have a 10" coil and the hipmount kit. Think I still have a 15" coil for it as well. Might be interesting to go Retro for a while just to see what can still be found with them vs. these whiz-bang high tech (EXPENSIVE) contraptions we all are swinging these days.........? I know I was digging some pretty deep silver 30 yrs. ago with the 5000!

Whites Eagle II SL 90 is the First Computer and the Best Computer ever made!!!!! I say this cozz it has the Best audio signal Like in no Delay, Locks good on a target, Flinststone your the only one that rememdered the Eagle II SL 90 ??? She was forgotten because wen the triger was pulled it went to a different layer on the control panel and people coudent rember what it did???? Its a XLT ??? I think its better thean the V3i
with all the Bells N wistels Like it or not, Wen Whites made the the DFX and Newer thy got too sensetive as in trying too go Deeper and lost the locking and audio qualitys, And yes the XL-Pro 4R Analog, Mickfin

Mickfin, I have found more rings with the Eagle II sl, than all detectors i have had, and i have had lots. If it locks on a vdi # and has a good sound dig it even if it show pulltab, 90% of the time it is a ring, if it jumps alot of vdi then it is junk. I had a Eagle II sl 89 and i think it locked a little better or sound was a little better don,t know watch. I will never get rid of the one i have now. Trying to find a way to hip mount it. thinking of cutting it off the rod, what do you think? Flintstone
