there was a dealer i spoke with today and because i had mentioned that prices were up on tesoro stock on ebay and i thought it was new dealers out there reaching, but found out as of march 1st dealer costs will go up and there fore your going to see the same machines for higher prices and i guess it had something to do with the brothers buy out, like most everyone i hope they come out with something new to asorb some of this, all they would have to do is come out with something TID disc assist manual ground bal on there and i think they would have a winner, personally i'm not complaining but the manufacturer war is on and at the moment team tesoro is in last place sort of as much as i hate to say it, but i thought i would share this news with my fellow tesoro users here

they will no longer allow the 20 % discount...only 15% so the 5% difference is going to be passed on to customers,,,, it just comes down to increase cost,,, nothing to do with the buy out,,,

Resale value of used Tesoros then will also go up.......get yours now.........

I think he's referring to the Gifford brothers.---Vince buying James out.----Has that actually happened???

i posted on another line last night what my local long time dealer said. she had it in her broucher. she gives 20% of whatever price is in the broucher. she runs a gun and pawn, and her and hubby are long time pro hunters, they use tesoros and garretts, and dont stock but two or three, but will order anything you want. they have a few accessories. i guess she was passing on the 5% to the customer too. they have sold tesoros for years, and use them, so it was just a sideline. good people. bang for the buck? i still like tesoro for the new light weights. i cant even look at an excaliber or such, aint found that pot o gold yet. tesoro it will always be. made in USA., not a provincial colonial possession of China yet!

Exactly! Of course it could just be a ploy to try to spark sales.....you know, like the never-ending "going-out-of-business" sales....

When sales are down, raising prices isn't the smartest thing to do.

Everybody's prices are going up, Minelab included. Have you checked the price of gas, heating oil , food or healthcare lately? Tesoro is no different. They are not invunerable to production cost increases. The price increase has absolutely nothing to do with one brother buying the other out. It is simply the cost of doing business in America in this economy. As for their sales being down, where does anyone get that idea? 2010 was the best year ever for Tesoro sales worldwide. Tesoro has expanded into several new markets globally and we must remember that metal detectors are only a portion of their entire production facilities. I have no connection with Tesoro other than as a customer ,and I also use other brands, but have to ask who else offers a solid performing , well built, American made detector with a lifetime guarantee? No one. Ever wonder why?

right!..every other company IS,or so it would seem!..(w.t.f.!)
just sayin!

I assume that this applies to online retailers who sell Tesoros as well (i.e. Amazon.com) and not just to dealers with actual retail space?

Folks, when the price of gold and silver is up like now, the value of the dollar has gone DOWN. Consequence - the price of goods rise. With Obamanomics the value of your money is declining.

Tesoro will always have a following like Compass, even if they went kaput. There are enough out there to keep us going for years. Newbies want new, old geezers like me want old and simple. My Tesoros will be willed when I die, to a deserving detectorist that preserves history buy uncovering lost history whether it be coin or relic.

dixiedigger----Now there's a man after my own heart!---My sentiments exactly!-----I'm one of those "ole geezers" to.-----Who ever gets our detectors has gotta be deserving of them AND APPRECIATE HISTORY---right?-----Treasures uncovered with metal detectors come in many forms, many of them "priceless"---and that doesn't necessarily mean in monetary worth.----Again, it's the HISTORY behind them!--------Del

history IS what's it all about in my view too!..del!
living in new england, surrounded by 350 years of it,or so!
don't really care WHAT i dig up,as long as it has historical significance, and tell a story!
makes it all worthwhile to me!..just sayin!

Another old geezer chiming in, and I totally agree with Dixie digger and Del. Tesoro should advertise their detctors as " heart healthy" for us oldtimers.

Downeaster, how would you know whether or not Tesoro had there best year ever 2010 ?

Stock market analysis reports, financial records, and investment prospectus reports ,all public information. Metal detectors are not Tesoros only business.
