Just practice I suppose. It is kinda easy to get it confused
when you have multiple targets in the same area, so practice
on known single targets. With practice, it's possible to get
very close with the stock coil. Detuning it will help many
times, but sharpening it up a bit. I'm sending a diagram I drew
out of the appx pinpoint pattern with the ace 250. The stock
instructions tell the proper method, but they give little indication
of what you should expect to see as far as the pinpoint pattern.
Maybe this will help a little. I haven't had the machine too long,
but after many tests, and coin digs the past week, I've fairly
sure this diagram is fairly close. The pattern is actually an oval,
cuz the coil is an oval. When you pull it back for the drop out,
you want to make sure you can hear a tone for an even small distance
side to side, to make sure you are centered up on the coin, from the
view angle you are seeing it from. So if it sounds lopsided, and
the tone is louder to one direction, adjust the position to get the
tone even on both sides of "middle", or max strength. You might
wanna practice with a coin on a box so you can see the coin as you
pinpoint. That way you can see what to expect for a certain position
to the coin.
