ACE 250 U RATE IT !!!:detecting::detecting::twodetecting:

When I first started . I rated it a five now that I have learn it's voice I rate it about 8 1/2 greatest find a double edged ax blade about nine inches down . -- Graw

(1) battery life-10+
(2) features vs cost-10+
(3) fun factor-10+
(4) pinpointing-8
Last week I found a little over $35 on a 3-day frenzy where in one day at two locations I found around $25. Have only been using it regularly in the past month or two. The pinpointing rating (and probably profit) would increase, I've been told by the 4 inch sniper. I'm hoping Garrett will consider a 3x5 coil(HINT,HINT) That's THREE BY FIVE-ANYBODY LISTENING?

I have an ACE with all three coils and I have that in my main arsenal. I give it a 10 across the board. As far as the value of a find, I think that is irrelevent. The most memorable finds are the ones that you are able to reunite with the person that lost them. For instance, I returned a gold diamond ear ring to the woman that lost it on a beach in Cape Cod. The smile I put on her face was payment enough for me. The other week I found an animal trap name tag while detecting. I located the owners son, who is 85 years old, and gave it to him. His tears of joy was my reward. That tag has been in the woods for at least 70 years. What memories it brought back to him. I found a silver half that was minted the year I was born, 1934. I found it on my birthday. What price can you put on something like that? So, has my finds been profitable? yes Sir they have. It's not always the money....Get dirty.....Dirty Don.....

I give it a 10,

I recommend this machine, its great for the newbie and for the experienced hunter, its a great all around machine. For the price of the machine and its capabilities. It is simple enough to take right out of the box and score coins without having any prior knowledge on how to use it. Once you watch the free DVD that comes with it, then you will know how to use the pinpoint function. Oh yea, this machine is a coin-shooting machine-gun. The batteries last a long time, gets pretty deep. It has pretty fast reaction time, and its super light compared to other machines. It also has 3 coil sizes for use in different situations, the stock coil, the 9x12 for fields and beaches (this is the deepest seeking coil, I love the 9x12 coil), and the sniper coil - it is used in very trashy places & in very tight places.

I have hunted with other people that had all kinds of machines, and plenty of times I was the only one finding silver while $1000 machines got skunked.

The most expensive item that I found was on my 2nd hunt ever, I found an 18k mens wedding ring that weighs 9.9g (about $210 melt value)

look below at my signature to see my other finds.

I hope this helps....

I own 12 detectors. Have owned about fifty. I consider the 250 my go to machine when looking for gold rings. I have found probably about thirty or forty with the 250. My best one is posted below. Appraised for $2000.00....Jack

I rate the pinpointing a SOLID 10, but not until your pratice and get it down, once you do it pinpoints amazing accurately!

I love mine and this year I have found
4 silver coins, 2 were barbers
3 indian pennies
1 buffalo nickel
65 wheaties
1200+ modern coins around $61 face value
9 rings
several relics
several matchbox cars
lots of odds and ends

ALSOME WHICH MODE DO U SEARCH ON FOR RINGS ??? jewlery ?? LIKE WHEN YOU ARE SEARCHING ON SAND
WHAT IS THE BEST SETTING FOR RING OR SO , AND THE SENSITIVITY LEVEL DID U HAVE LUCK ON ???

I've only had experience with two machines, The Bounty Hunter Lone Star, and the Ace 250.

I hunted my yard to the point where I thought I had picked it clean of every pull tab, foil sliver and a handful of coins with the BH.
The day my Ace250 arrived, I hunted it again, and within a couple of hours found another buck's worth of clad.

One funny thing, the Ace and the BH do not play well together within a 12' radius. The Ace will freak out as soon as the BH is powered up, while the BH is silent.

run it in jewelry mode, and dig every pulltab/foil signal you get if you really want gold!

Sensitivity is somethingyou need to play with, at first I always used 4 bars, now I go as high as 7 bars depending on where I am hunting, and how trashy it is

I have only put about 2.5 hours on my new 250. It is different but I'll get the hang of the coin tones soon. I noticed that I can hear, faintly, the detector chattering under the threshold while I am detecting. I guess it is deciding on what I get to hear during this phase of figuring out what it is detecting. I wonder how soon it will be before people start tweaking the threshold level, if it even can be tweaked. And I am not used to detecting without a threshold tone so I find myself looking to make sure the detector is still on while I am swinging.

I picked up the sniper coil this past week so I'll be giving that a run through along with the larger 9X12 coil that came with the Deluxe package. Even though the 6.5X9 coil is a bit heavier that I prefer, I did notice that the balance is very well and I hardly noticed the weight of the coil while I was swinging it. Hopefully that will be the same case with the 9X12.

So far I like it but I have not been wow'ed yet. That is no knock against the ACE 250, it is a very nice machine for the price for sure and I simply have not had enough field time with it.

As it is with my MXT, I wish it had a volume control. Yeah, I know, detector low price and headphones = volume control. I just wish they had one.

It is the best for the money that you will ever find. Anyone who has never hunted before can pick one up and find GOOD stuff with it:thumbup:

I just started to use my Ace 250 back in March, I only use the 9x12 coil and have never used the standard coil at all. At first my arm was killing me!!!! But once I got used to it, now its fine. Since March I have logged 139 hours of swing time and I feel that I am pretty confident with my machine. I though that I broke my 9x12 coil last week but it seems to be working just fine now. But I borrowed my buddies Whites XLT for 3 hunts. It is a good machine but the cost and weight of it didn't impress me. I was finding the same things at the same depth as with the Ace. But it is a whole lot more complicated machine. I love the Ace, just take it out of the box and run with it. I know that if I spend more time with the XLT I will become more proficient with it, but whats the point, I already have a fine detector.

I say just keep practicing with it, and in no time your body will get used to the weight. Now I think it is super light. I have gone on a few 7+ hour hunts without any fatigue. I also tried my friends Minelab SE, boy I had a back ache within a half an hour  the thing weighs a ton!!!! As far as I know, the Fisher F-75 is the lightest machine on the market, weighing in at a mear 3.5lbs. But that is a $1,000+ machine.

Wow, am I a dummy then. Ok let me rephrase the above statement. The F-75 is the lightest deep seeking metal detector being only 3.5lbs. Compared to the Garrett 2500 & the Minelab SE. Sorry for not getting my facts straight.

I knew the Ace 250 was light, but I had no idea it was only 2.7lbs, cool.:detecting:
