Ace 250 pin point question

I'm having an issue when I use the pin pointing of the Ace 250 with the original coil. (the 6.5 x 9 I believe.) I'm used to the exact center of the coil being where to dig which I feel is right where the shaft connects to the coil. However I'm usually ending up finding my coin in other spots. Now....eventually I Plan on buying a pin pointer (or a free one if you guys wanna be so kind! lol) however, how can I help pin point better? It seems that when an object is really big I'm nearly a whole coil in size off of it!!

My second question is I'm starting to "ignore" items that bounce around before I dig. Like items that bounce around all over the lower scale or seem to jump from silver to gold to nickle. (Those tend to be those stupid Iron City Bear Caps!!!) However, is there a specific pattern that bounces that usually means good stuff?

Thanks for all your help guys! I'm having a lot of fun, finding over 30 coins and a couple really nice items, however I need to figure out where the good places are. I keep finding new pennys but nothing old.

Hi I hope this helps. Go to Garrett.com & click on the Ace 250
I believe there is a video demo for pinpointing

I haven't noticed a pattern but bouncers are usually trash stuff

Good Luck

If you want to pinpoint with the centre, then go over the target in pinpoint, then just to the side, re hit the pinpoint button to detune it. This gives you a 3 inch wide signal and normally turns the back half of the coil off. When you have centred over the target, push the coil away from you self till you just loose the signal. The point that the signal is breaking off, is in the cut out in the middle of the coil.
If you want to pinpoint off the 12 o'clock position of the inner coil, then just engage the pinpoint as normal, centre the coil and pull it towards yourself, wiggling a bit at the edge of the signal. This is quite accurate and gives you good target feed back when you listen to the audio break off.

The 6x9 pinpoints like a DD. The honey spot is the front center tip of the inside oval on the coil. Center your target side to side then drag the coil straight back until the instant the signal stops and your target will be there. Deeper targets will be back of that point slightly.
