Overall I don't know how good Chinese made detectors are but I suspect they are not half as bad as many people wish they were. Pretty ingenious of the Chinese letting Garrett and Minelab do the research and development then they produce a copy that sells for only a fraction of the real item.

Chinese made anything is generally crap, at least from my experience with Chinese products. They will pirate anything and knock off anything..I don't know how many coffee makers ( American name but made in China ) that I have gone through. They last about a year or less and crap out.

Just do a google for "China Metal Detectors", the first website listed you'll want to look at.
You'll be shocked at all the ones that are made. Some rather interesting units.
Just remember China products may now be considered junk..........remember back when that was the same thinking
about Japanese products? Look at the Japanese products now, quality meets or exceeds other worldwide products.
I'm sure the Chinese are on their way to producing high quality precision products in the short future. Right now they
are focusing on producing fast, cheap, disposable products. They are making money quickly.
By the way the Lander is made in three different colors.
Color sells, marketing gimmick. Bright colors represent happiness, warmth, sunshine, fun....So many of
those "affordable" colored machines are geared to the young, beginner and female. A big market share to tap into.
Men tend to like darker colors-represent power, dominance, stealthy, strong, etc. Men, will tend to spend more on a hobby and caught up in
keeping up with the Jones......

manufacturers and are acting distributors for the overseas market. May actually be legit. Just like Tesoros sell different models for the European market,
and will not sell them in the US. Just speculation here.
I don't have a problem with other countries making machines. I have a problem with this machine because it's exactly the same shade of yellow. The arm cuff looks like they bought them from Garrett. Then there's the overall shape and look of the control head. If it's that much better than the Ace's then why wouldn't they at least differentiate their great machine with a different color? Why make people think it's something it's not? I don't know all the answers because if it was black in color some would say they looked like other machines. All I know is I don't want it.

I don't know what everyone is getting so upset about. Is it just because it's a metal detector, or is it because of where it's made?
Think about this for a minute. If General Motors came out with an entirely new type of car, how long do you think it would be before every other manufacturer was making the same product under their name. It doesn't matter if it was Chevy, Ford, Toyota, etc. Once something new is made others will follow suit.. You can't buy a true American Car anymore. Parts are made around the world and even assembled outside of the U.S.
Look at the first personal computer. Once the first one hit the market others followed. No one had ever heard of Apple, Dell, HP, or any of those companies until they jumped on the band wagaon. The only computers you ever heard of were IBM, DEC (Digital Equipment Corp.) or WANG, and those were all large main frame computers. The same goes for cell phones, blackberries, iAnythings, etc. Once one was made other followed by using that technology for themselves.
It's called BUSINESS. Like it or not thats what makes the world go 'round. I know a lot of this has to do with China, but they aren't doing anything new. It's been going on since the start of time, and there will be no end to it. If you don't like their product, then purchase one that you do. It's as simple as that.
The best you can do is look for the "Made in USA" label on whatever you buy. There, now I feel better, I've said my piece.

Really? And where do you find made in USA. I have some news for you. Many products labeled "Made In USA" are made in China or some third world country. Most of the designer clothes are made in sweat shops for pennies apiece then sold to Yuppie America under a fancy label for hundreds of times their cost. Factories have whole crews that do nothing all day but sew Made In USA labels into and on products. Most of the groceries you buy come from a foreign country. There is close to nothing actually made in ths country anymore. The produce you buy in the grocery stores comes from third world countries. Made In The USA died decades ago when greed began to rule the world. Even a great deal of our Military equipment is made in foreign countries.

Yeah anybody who looks at that machine and can't see the similarity to Garrett is blind in one eye and can't see out the other. I tipped Garrett off and they have looked at it.
