Ace 250 knock off falls very short! Sad copy.....

This could be any detector manufacturer in North America who is being copied as a cheap Chinese knockoff. Imagine, Garrett designs a unique looking product, gives it distinctive colors, shape. name. price. Also pays all associated costs such as R&D, advertising, warranty etc. The ACE becomes a hit! Probably the biggest seller of all times.

Along comes a person(s) who wants to ride the same wave that Garrett has created. Only, this one only "looks" similar. It's performance is compromised and what kind of waranty or support does one get from a product built in China from some small unheard off, unknown company? There are laws in Canada about importing cheap Chinese knockoff look-a-like products. I presume the US does too.

I hope Garrett Goes after these slime-buckets and blocks their importation into north America. Sad sad sad!
 
I wouldn't worry...just like those Shrek Glasses from China that McDonald's bought....their detector will give the buyer lead poisoning I would bet! :rofl:
 
I'm sure most people will look past the exact color, shape and know it's a POS! Also it seems like anyone selling something has that same accent. Like these guys must know what they're talking about. This guy probably just came off a sham wow commercial!

Yeah but that's nicer than the 250 with more features and a reasonable price plus it's the sincerest form of flattery indicating the worldwide popularity of the 250.. HAA. Don't think Garrett has much to worry about.

Yeah I wonder if it falls under the category of patent infringement and Garrett could nail them for that. This is what happens when you design the most popular detector on the market so it is no surprise that knock offs would soon pop up and the slime in China will knock off anything that smells like a buck. But I doubt Garrett has anything to worry about. They may look like a Garrett but that don't make them a Garrett.

Besides the color ... what is copied?
The shape is somewhat the same but everything else is different.
Dont even look close to an Ace 250 to me.

I think it's a knock off. Color, shape even the control panel on the 100 model. Not to mention the exact arm cuff and stand. That looks exactly like Garrett. It won't fool us hunters. But some people will think - oh it's yellow and looks like the Ace so it has to be good.
 
This might not be the right place to post this but is related so will do so anyway.
MineLab is having the same problem with someone making copy's of there high end
gold machines and selling them on the web. VERY hard to make a good COPY of
those machines but someone is putting in the time and effort to do it. More about
this is on there web site if anyone is interested in learning more about it.
 
Yes, the same has happened to Whites. I read some that the T2 has been copied too. I wonder if it's the same factory for all the knock offs? On another note. Where I buy my heating and cooling equipment. They sell under 3 different brands. The only difference is what name plate I ask for. If you want a Kenmore that will cost you big $ for the plate!
 
Y'all just don't understand the poor chinese. anybody who claims their favorite passion is ping pong and has 1.5 billion people will lie about anything else. It really offends me that a nation that professes communism and helped kill so many of our military in Korea and Vietnam is recieving most favored nation status from the USA and other countries. I have always tried to buy products made in the USA or at least from our neighbors like Canada or Mexico or the UK, but it's almost impossible to buy anything this day and time that isn't made in China or from parts shipped in from China. That's why I'm such a Garrett fan. M-A-D-E I-N T-H-E USA...!!
