Ace 250 is driving me crazy

Think I just figured out another problem that I hadn't seen anyone else mention. Broke out a different pair of headphones and for the first 20 minutes it seem my problem may have returned. Turns out .... I think .... that the cord on my headphones are to long and I was letting them sag to close to the ground. After I took up some slack it was back to normal.

Really starting to get the hang of this ACE 250! (It still blows my mind that it found that wire when it was so deep.) I dug up another 1.85 in change tonight making a grand total of 15.00 in the 6 days that I've had the machine. Thats not counting the silver coins I've uncovered. Add in the wire (checked the recycle center and they're giving 2.95 a pound for the wire. ) and I'll have my machine paid for with money left over. My only gripe is ....... I didn't buy one a long time ago!

I am now officially hooked!

Happy hunting to everyone out there .............

Ya the headphone cord trick. I also ran into that....I've been thinking of either shortening the cord, or maybe going wireless

Thanks, guys. I had learned to turn my 250 down to 3 sensitivity and after reading your post about the cell phone I remembered leaving mine on in case my wife called. But you want to hear a funny? I forgot to get some money from the bank, went to Walmart to get some batteries(finally!) and only had pocket change so I had to get the standard batteries for $.94-put them in and the 250 seemed to run smoother and at a higher sensitivity than with alkalines. But after reading this I realized I didn't have my cell phone on for a few days! Can you imagine what I was thinking was the answer for having to use lower sensitivity?:crylol:

Just thought I'd post an update on my "find". Did some cleaning and took in the wire that I dug up and turned it into cash. Turns out that I had just over 34 lbs worth at $3.18 a lb for a grand total of ............ $108.53!!! No wonders people are trying to steal everything thats not nailed down!

With the stash of wire that I found with the 250 ...... I'll never complain again about the strange noises it makes!

That beats digging 10,853 cents one at a time! The 250 did what it was designed to do - find metal!
