About the Ace 350.....

Old Katz

If the Ace 350 is going to retail for $349
I wonder if the dealers are going to offer it at the discounted rate.
The Ace 250 retails at $259 but everyone sells it at $212.00.

Dunno.. Probably around $299 or so.. But just guessing..
I don't see myself changing from the 250 to a 350 though.
Can't say for sure without trying one, but I'm not expecting that
big a difference between the two. Or at least not enough to
buy another Ace machine for $300. After they come out, it's
likely the value of a used 250 will drop a tad too.. So I'd
probably get a bit less for the 250 if I sold it to offset the cost.
So I think I'll stick with what I have. If I were to upgrade, it
would probably be more like a 1500 or whatever..
But actually, I'm still happy with the 250, so no rush to change.
I honestly doubt you would find much with the 350 that the
250 wouldn't hit on also. And the DD coil can be used on a 250
if one wanted that coil.
One thing that makes the 350 less of a pressing draw to me, is the
ground I'm usually detecting is fairly good most of the time.
So the 250 usually does pretty well. If I were on hot ground, the
350 might be more desirable. And even then, the slight frequency change
is hardly enough to make too much of a difference. Or to my thinking
anyway..

I paid $297.46 shipped on a pre-order. I would guess that should be the going price.
Can't wait for it to get here, just love new toys!!

I'm with NM5K on this. Think I'll stick with the 250 although I might look at the new coil down the road. Not sure I like the new front panel on the 350. Don't particularly like that they combine 10 and 25 cents and 50 and 1.00. I've got enough issues with the machines ID's already.

I don't see that much more advantage in changing. The new coil will also fit the 250. The increase in frez should give a little more depth but if you are happy with your 250 stick with it.
Anyway the 350 is still delayed until Oct some time.

I look at it this way. I just sold my Ace 250 with the 9x12 coil for 187.50 By the time I get an Ace 350 I'll have less outlay than buying the coil alone. So for less I get a new machine. As far as combining the 10c and 25c and 50c with 1.00 - I dig them all anyway. Doesn't matter to me if they lumped 10c through 1.00 in one notch. I'll dig it. I think most would do the same. Really if you had one notch for high coins you could have more notches in the nickel/tab trash zone. Now I think this would help. I don't know I'm just a plumber.

I have been thinking about a 250 or wait for the Ace 350 to arrive.
I wanted to know if the 350 was justa 250 with a new face plate or what.
I email Garrett and asked what actually is the difference between the 250 and 350 and this is what they said.

Hello,

The ACE 350 is a new circuit board design and the ACE 350 will be available on September 15, 2010.

Thanks and have a great day,

My first 250 is still humming along finding stuff after 4 years, the one I bought as a backup machine is still in the box (minus batteries of course) that it came in. I can't see jumping on the bandwagon for a new 350 at this point either. I'll wait to see what the concensus is on the new coil, I have the sniper and 9x12 but rarely use either one. I think the 250 set the bar so high as far as value and capabilities that anything even close to it, including the 350, isn't enough.

I may just buy the new coil; the extra 1,75 khz isn't going to improve
my hunting much but I would like the extra depth.

The DD coil and the freq to 8.25 kHz should make a dramatic difference.
I'm holding off and wait until it arrives and then decide if that is the way I want to go.
But we must wait a little longer. Hopefully they make a nice package deal like the Ace 250 sports pack.

From a 250 to a 350 is not much of an upgrade. Not that the 350 will be a bad machine , just that it isnt much of a jump. For those who already use a 250 , you are at the stage where the next best logical upgrade would be a mid to upper level detector. There is a huge amount of people out there using the 250 so I really think Garrett missed an opportunity for more record breaking sales by offering another low budget detector so similar to the ones already on the market.

With a new circuit board design and a new DD coil, it seems like it will be notably different than the 250.

Kind of surprised to see so many naysayers when the machine isn't even out yet.

I'll be interested to hear what people say once the detector is actually in use.

Yep, it will be interesting to see what people say about it once its actually in use. I wont mind being proven wrong at all if that happens. Apparently they have done some tweaking to the circuitboard , but Ive read so many posts on it where people say that they called or emailed Garrett and were told that the " biggest " difference between the two is the coil. Even though thats secondhand information , it seems to imply that there isnt as much difference in the onboard electronics as people think. The redesigned faceplate with targets that are seperated on the 250 will be combined on the 350 , now it seems being able to tell the difference between types of coins may be almost impossible. Are you digging a quarter , or a dime ? Who knows.

Good morning

The answer to your first question is that the ACE 350 should be available in stores and to purchase online on September 15, 2010.

The ACE 350 will have a introductory special package once it is available. The special will be available until December 31, 2010. It will be the same price as the standard ACE 350 but in addition to getting the ACE 350 you will also received a Stainless Steel Treasure Digger, Treasure Pouch and a Environmental Cover-Up. Also I
