A year in review 2010 (V3 had a really great year)

My finds have come from what most would consider to be "hunted out" locations. (Of course that's a matter of opinion) I thought I would share with the V3 community what I consider to be a pretty good year. Also I thought I'd take the time to thank everyone for answering questions that I had early on, and for sharing their insights on how to setup the V3, I will probably have forgotten everything I learned by the time spring gets here again.

I have not tallied up the clad count, but the wheaties count out to be about 45-50, the silvers were slow in coming but I found a respectable number of them. Rings were always a pleasant surprise and kept me enthused for the next time out. I included my visual finds as well, marbles, dice, golf balls just because I figured why not..I found them in the pursuit of my hobby.

I also weighed out the lead that I found this year, tallied to be about 4 lbs of it.

Found a few buckshot pellets (really shows the sensitivity of the V3)

Some old rimfire casings.

Also found quite a few copper fittings, pipes, and even found a 10 inch solid copper rod.. i suppose thats worth something probably a pound or so's worth in weight.

Aluminum can-slaw.. yeah a pile of that. (2 plastic gallon bags worth of that stuff) I saved it just to see what it would tally up to.

Thanks for taking the time to look, and looking forward to getting out and swing the hoop some more in the next year.

Oh time spent hunting.. rarely more than an hour or two at a time, with a patient spouse. Intermittently over the spring/summer/fall.

Nice finds!

Silver is good and the clad is always nice to find but the section on the right that I call miscellaneous is what I think is the most interesting and fun to find. A very nice display and good luck in 2011.

Congrats and may 2011 be just as fun and even more profitable!

Thanks for the comments, I spent a few hours sorting the piles as I was curious how my nickel finds were stacking up against everything else. Earlier in the year I was having some initial challenges finding nickels which with a little advice from the forum I significantly improved on this.

My Nickel finds definitely improved as I gained experience with the V3, in some places I was finding so many nickels that it was like hunting an untouched spot.

Clad;

Quarters: 468
Nickels: 142
Dimes: 560
Pennies: 1108
Fifty Cent Pieces:3 ( 2 not shown)
Dollar Pieces: 1

Wheaties: 72
Buffalo Nickels: 2

Silver:

Rosies: 2
Mercs: 3
Barber Dimes: 5
SL 50cent: 1
Wash QTR: 1

Tokens: 7 (1 from about the 30's or so)

Jewelry:

Silver Bracelet; 1
Class Ring: 1 (gold)
Wedding Band: 1 (gold)
Engagement Ring: 2 (with diamonds)
Broach: 1 (sterling)
Religious Medal: 1 (sterling)

Foreign Coins:

1 20 cent Euro
1 1 Euro
1 ? pence

And of course all the Miscellaneous stuff.

There are detectorists who won't spent the time to find nickels. That's fine it leaves more for me.

Nice haul for the year and best of luck in the coming one! (Your finds took a huge chunk out of what the V3i cost you!)

Pretty good haul there. The silver and gold is always a nice surprise.

Rob,

I couldn't agree with your comment more. As most on here probably know jewelry and rings are very close to the nickel readings which is why I was trying to hit nickels and see if I could improve my nickel counts. I also knew that the by-catch of nickels is rings, which held true when I found each of the rings I picked up. The class ring in particular was hitting pretty close to a nickel and because I dig nickels the ring came up. I also started digging a lot of iffie signals that were nickel VDI's but bouncing around, some turned out to be nickels at an angle in the soil a couple turned into rings/jewelry.

WOW! You had a real nice year. Thanks for sharing and here's to 2011 for ya!!!

I can honestly say I never set foot on a beach last year. I tend to be a park hunter/site hunter I like beaches, but I don't like crowds so I tend to do a lot of off season hunting. (hunting in the rain is one of my favorite times)
