A question about the Ace 250 and the 350

Salida

New member
Now that the Ace 350 has been out for awhile I would like to know
from you all who have both machines if you think one is better
than the other. Where would you choose the 350 over the 250?

I already have the Ace 250...what is the 350 going to do for me besides give me a bigger coil at a slightly bigger Khz.
Thanks

the 350 will be able to find more little items than the ace 250. just a littlemore.
the coil will give u more depth. this is what i know. may be someone else have more infos.

take care

The 350 will give you the DD coil which does very well in highly mineralized soil and target separation. I wrote a blog post on my site about dd vs concentric coils: http://www.hollandsbrook.com/blog/dd-coil-vs-concentric/

That's really the biggest difference. You can of course buy a DD coil for the 250 for about $120 if you wanted to take that route.

Cheers,
Marc

I have both, and the iron resolution on the 350 is better, but you give up resolution on coins. I bought my 350 first, and later picked up a 250 as a backup. Using the 350 coil on the 250, they are virtually identical. I had heard that the 350 was supposed to be deeper, but that isn't the case with mine. I have a 10x14 excelerator coil as well as the sniper coil, and the good thing is that all of the ace coils are interchangeable between the ace 150/250/350. ( I might add, the excelerator coil does cover ground faster, but isn't any deeper than the factory DD coil that comes on the 350. If I already had a 250, I'd just invest in a DD coil rather than spending the extra cash for a different machine.
Just my two cents worth!

Ok so when I pinpoint with this DD coil where will the target actually BE under the coil?
Thanks

While it takes practice, pinpointing with a DD coil is actually more precise due to the overlapping coils that make up the DD configuration. Send me a PM if you're looking for a good price on an ACE DD coil or if you decide to go with a 350.

Marc

I personally use the 2-axis approach. find your strongest signal, and make a mental note of where the center line of the coil is, then turn 90 degrees and do the same thing. The target will be in the center of the X. With a little practice, you will be able to pop coins with a screwdriver! The DD coil really is deadly accurate on pinpointing, but it took a little getting used to for me. When I first started using it, I was digging 6" diameter holes for a coin that was just below the surface!
Good luck.

Of course without saying the larger DD coil will give you more depth and coverage and excell in many areas but the biggest improvement is the notches below the nickle are expanded to give you more ability to find more rings in the foil area and of course for you relic hunters uncover more objects that have multiple properties including iron...Ace 250 does not have the same block setup and the Ace 350 gives you expanded resolution below nickle which is the hot spot(foil area) for about one third of the gold rings found...
