A new Whites detector....MX5.......why not....................

I'm actually surprised Whites hasn't designed an amphibian mid priced vlf machine. Especially with the success of the At series.....

If you say the Whites MX5 can replace your M6, G2 and Omega .......... that to me speaks volumes about the MX5.

I think I will be buying one.
When it comes to detectors I always make sure I factor in the search coil selection. The MX5 uses all of the search coil set used with the M6. MXT & MXT Pro, VX3 and V3i, so I have a 12" coil on a spare lower rod for the very specific times I feel a real need for it.

I keep the stock 950 coil mounted on my VX3, but might occasionally switch to the 6

Same here.

...and does it have VDI numbers or just discrimination segments. The two-tone option sounds really cool. I have been using the Two Tone Ferrous option a lot on my Etrac, sounds like the MX5 may be able to duplicate that somewhat.

Yes it has VDI numbers.

Does the MX5 have an iron tone? Say for example like the AT Gold? And what about it's separation, 6-8, 7-8 or 8-8 on the nail board test? Can it be used out in the pissing rain? Thanks.

I really enjoy the MXT-like performance of the MX5, especially with the stock 9" for open area searches, and the 6

Monte what's a 6 1/2 coil? ..... I never cared for the coinmaster GT........... But after seeing the specs on the Mx5 (all metal with VDI Readout) (live threshold) (14 Kz ) (volume control) I ordered one, and will run it though 2 of my soccer fields and she how she does.
