A new Whites detector....MX5.......why not....................

................on their website??? What kind of marketing is this? Kellyco introduces the product??? All info only on the Kellyco site......Whites dealers not in the loop......many are upset!!! I don't get it. I am a Whites fan and I will buy this detector.........but come on, and lets not do such an amatuer type introduction. This is the Tesoro Outlaw fiasco all over again!!!! LOL LOL

I'm fairly sure that this would have to be a "Kellyco only" product, and if it is......no fiasco at all.

My Whites dealer has the MX5 and he also carries the new Whites MXT ALL Pro detector. So its not just a Kellyco exclusive

Got my MX5 today looks like it may have some of the MXT features. It does have threshold a (motion) all metal mode that will act different than the pinpoint mode. Will get it out of the box tomorrow and see what it will do. Hope it does come close to the MXT as it has lower cost. Maybe Whites wants to get rid of the M6 and the regular MXT an replace them with the MX5?? As they still will have the MXT Pro/MXT All Pro.
We'll see what I think after I play around with the MX5.

The MXT all pro comes with a 10inch dd coil and 9 inch spider coil. All they did was put an "All" sticker on the machines. No performance or feature upgrade at all.

What's a MXT ALL PRO??---Never heard of it.

I could see them getting rid of the MXT. But would be making a mistake if they did the same with the M6.

Explanation for why they would do so? Curious. Thanks. HH

Can't seem to find any info on the MXT All Pro. But if all they did was add a coil package then they are following another companies direction to some extent it would appear.

a short post I made the other day after I got my MX5 in-hand. I have been out to quite a few sites with the MX5, along with an M6, my MXT Pro, and a couple of other detector models for comparison. I am going to work some more time in today as well, starting with fresh set of batteries. I didn't monitor the time-of-use but I know I was well over the 30 hour mark with the first set, almost all using my Pro Star headphones and very little speaker use.

...replace your M6, G2 and Omega.........................that to me speaks volumes about the MX5. I think I will be buying one. Especially if it is lighter than the old metal box style such as the M6. "Built like a tank" doesn't increase my detecting time. There is a fellow in our area that is using a plastic Whites detector that came out about 25 years ago, it even has a small id meter and it has stood up to a lot of heavy use..............plastic.....lighter weight ..... and built like a tank!!!! Forget the name of the model.

Hi Monte,
Will the Mx5 prospect as well as the g2?
Thanks

Hi Ivan,
Ive been researching too, and if I'm reading correctly, it looks like the M6 weighs .1 pound or only 1.6 oz more than the new MX5. (4 pounds vs 3.9 pounds respectively)
I initially thought the M6, having a metal case, would weigh much more.
It also makes me wonder WHERE the weight lies and how it affects balance. In theory, two detectors weighing exactly the same may have different weight distributions due to configuration, coil size, etc that may give each one its own 'feel.'
So Im going to try them side by side at my local dealer before deciding.

That's a good idea. Please post your findings after trying them out in person. Nothing beats an honest opinion based on actual experience. There seems to be very little weight advantage plastic vs. metal.......................but the balance may be the determining factor. As an example the Garrett AT Pro looks good on paper or in the advertising blurb...............but in real life I found it to be an ergonomic disaster. Tired wrist/arm reduce detecting time. Hope Whites will be better. Keep us informed....Thanx.

Hi All,

Got this from White's website. The MX5 weighs 3 lbs 9 ozs not 3.9 lbs.
