A new twist on the parks and detecting issues.........

Elton

New member
Smokers beware..You can no longer smoke in some parks while you detect.. Unbelievable. In the wide open outdoors they want to control you.. and tell you No smoking ..

How many of you smoke ? I do. Cigarettes is my vice.......

People need to get a life.. I'm sick of all the ones who want to control what I do..Who do they think they are??? ..I'm old enough to make my own decisions. How about you???
What is wrong with these
supposed do good's.. Butt out !! No pun intended.

I bet they drink booze :beers: and drive ........ and think that is ok... I will continue to smoke..and will fight any charge I might get ( If I do) in court. I'm sick of this crap... :rage:

First off I do smoke and enjoy my limited freedom to do so but it is a proven fact that second hand smoke is as bad as smoking and although I don't believe it will cause anyone a problem in open air, we have to abide by the laws/rules put forth to us. Sort of like here, I made a post on a forum here some time ago that was bad for that topic and it didn't get me booted but from that day forward I can no longer read that forum or post there and I accept that and understand what I did was not acceptable for todays culture. I spent 22 years of my life defending our freedoms and am proud to have had the ability to do so but freedom comes with a cost not just to the soldier but the public as well. When you are the minority in public belief you will never win on matter how strongly you or me believe what we are doing is the wright thing at the time. Again I have stood strong for everyone's beliefs weather I agreed with them or not through multiple combat tours and am a highly decorated retired veteran but I have to understand everyone does not have the same values or options that I do. Just food for thought here.

Gary Owens.

I hate having to inhale second hand smoke but this is ridiculous.

Indoors I can understand but outdoors ? Where is this taking place ?

Elton it's a shame your community has elected or allowed un-elected bureaucrats to make ridiculous behavior infringing regulations like this but you have no one to blame but yourselves,,,,rectify the situation by getting rid of them.
As for the quotation above , such fallacies can't be allowed to go unchallenged!!!!! What lack of reasoning would allow someone to accept such an stupid statement?
There are thousands of activities that produce environmental pollutants like second hand smoke that are totally ignored. It's like the tree hugging jogger going down the path next to a busy highway breathing auto exhaust to be "healthy".
GO , smelling a fart is unpleasant but not hardly the same as living with your head up your a$$!

If you get caught tossing/butting your cigarettes in some parks up here, you get charges with littering. They have done some autopsies on dead birds and found cigarette butts in their stomach. They concluded that the dose of nicotine from the tobacco and filter for an animal that size likely killed it. That might also be part of the reason.

Thanks for serving Gary.. Sometimes we have to take a stand. Bleeding hearts are trying to dictate all things..

If these laws do get enforced I will be standing up for my rights of choice.. Enough is enough....

Just remember to put that ring back in the hole for future generations Elton!-----"Big brother" IS watching you!!!:yikes:

A City called Strongsville... Also Sylvania . Others seem to be in line to follow their lead..

It seems to me that the cities would have a hard time enforcing that law and it's worth keeping an eye on the legal perspective. I was surprised to find no smoking signs all over a city park that I have been hunting in for 30 years. I smoked anyway but I did not throw the butt on the ground, it goes in the junk side of the treasure pouch. I really don't know what they would charge me with other than violating a city ordnance......... polluting? I just can't see the no smoking police bothering to write very many tickets anyway, a waste of their time and ours.

I am an X Smoker so can't throw stones at those who do. That is silly, Like the Law that a person can't smoke in a bar? You kidding Me! A bunch of people drinking that can't smoke will wind up beating the Hell out of each other! LOL.

It's the wave of the future--like it or not.-----I'm more concerned about our parks being shut off to detecting---period!

I will fight it as far as it takes if it happens to me.. It's time to stand up about some of these do good-er laws that are being passed..
In fact it's way past time on some of this stuff that is getting rammed down our throats.

Honestly, it makes me glad I had the sense to quit 38 yrs ago.

Besides the obvious health issues, I figure at todays cigarette prices, the savings could buy me a new Etrac each year.

:smoke: I do get your frustration though Elton. :smoke:

Come to think of it I was at a local park 2 weeks ago with all kinds of signs about what was permitted and what wasn't and there was a sign banning e-cigarettes. I thought it was outrageous. Next time I go I will take a picture of the sign. Maybe taking pictures of signs is banned as well...

Funny I just read Orson Welles 1984 a few weeks ago.

HAHAHAHA Along with my Camel butt !!! ......... I'm sure the way it is trending unless we take a stand soon.. The future detectorists will have no idea what a cigarette butt is should it stand the test of time hahahahha.and maybe value it as a relic... Now wouldn't that be something..

The Southern States were tobacco growers, and prospered on raising tobacco......... now some do good-er's want it gone.... Maybe they can switch to legal marijuana growing for the radicals that want that made legal... It's ok to smoke pot..but not cigarettes....

GO VA-Thanks ------Everyone needs to realize that all elected officials know what is the best for us and you need to think of the children.[----- There will always be the people that bitch and complain about some new law that our great official come up with, They always miss the monthly meeting.-----------WE need to be a force of more than ONE.--------after1-----------left]

Elton there is no thanks necessary for what I have don it was an honor for me to have the ability to serve. My ancestors have fought for this country voluntarily from the beginning, heck me and my brother were in Iraq at the same time and my mom had her first birthday when my grandfather was serving in WW II, almost the same, here mother was a young wife with two children when my great grandfather left for WW I so you get the idea of who I am. Think hard, when it is fine to not stand for our NATIONAL ANTHEM or the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCS how do you or me think we can have any say about smoking?
