A little poll to liven things up. What was your very first detector and when did you first start in the hobby and can you remember your first find?

I started two years ago around this coming March. Started out with my GTA 1000 PM and found a penny. Now i have many pennies and other coins and items. Also Have a Master Hunter CX and a GTI 2500. I`m relly glad i got started in this hobby.

I was visiting in Galveston and a couple came up from the beach with detector in hand and I asked them if they had any luck. They showed me their finds and I looked at my husband and said I am going to get me a detector. The next time we were on our way to Galveston I went to Radio shack and bought me my first detector for $129.95. Took it to the beach to try it out when we got there and it stopped working. I took it back to Radio Shack and they gave me another one. Went back out and found me a few coins & a key. I found out that it didn't work back home in east Texas because of all the iorn ore. So then the research begain and I bought my first used Garrett. Then I slowly went up the ladder till I got me a GTI 2500. Not long after that I became a authorized dealer for Garrett. This hobby has changed my LIFE! Now I wish I only new about metal detecting sooner. Keep 'em beep'n!!!

A Garrett 1500,memorial penny worth a penny. My fourth trip out I found a 1907 Barber dime that was in 2000.
