A Lady asked me to find her ring....

I was trying to cover a ball diamond (finished for the season, so fair game now) when a lady approached me .
She lived in one of the houses that border the field on one side and she said that she lost a silver/turquois ring that had belonged to her late husband. She lost it last fall while raking leaves. I followed her back to her house and spent about 45 minutes searching the area that she thought it was in with no luck. If it was in the leaves, I hate to think what happened to it. That was my 5th 'rescue' mission and my second failure. I hate it when that happens.

If you have the interest, ask to search more of her property. Many times once you realize you've lost something, it's not lost at the spot where you realized it was gone. Also, by the mere fact she was raking leaves, it could have been raked-along with them to who-knows-where, then again if she disposed of the leaves via trash removal, it could have been disposed along with them....and that spot would also be a good area to hit (since the ring may have fallen through the leaves as they were loaded into a trash receptacle . If you've got a hunting buddy, ask if they can come, cover 2X the ground. Never know.....a good deed may land you other spots to hunt.

Yeah I recovered a $2000 heirloom ring for a friend of mine, given to her by her 100 year old mother, in leaves she was raking while doing yard work. Took about five minutes. Was she ever a happy camper. Got some serious big hugs.
