A Good Reliable Water Detector for Saltwater

I'm looking for a simple beep/dig saltwater machine that just discriminates out "iron" only, but dig everything; that is NON-PI. It needs to be hip-mounted.

What else besides the Excalibur and the CZ21?

the Detectorpro "Headhunter Wader"? any good? reasonable depth?

What does Garrett, Whites, have??

Thanks

Ken

Tesoro baby!!!!!! Tiger Shark non PI and Sand Shark PI both about 500 on ebay used or 600-850 retail depending on the model

hey ken why don't you contact GTMD in Scarborough and talk to Albert or Nathalie

Other day I was at beach with a buddy. He was using a 1280, and I was using BH ID.

He found a deposit of clad...so I came over with the beach hunter. I found a few dimes...and scoured a patch of dry sand...no more hits so I moved on. Well he went over same patch with the 1280 and out did me buy about 1.50.

I am not sure if it was something I am doing wrong with the beach hunter....it was basically dry sand. Anyway. I just thought it was funnny I got out done by a fresh water machine.

I have a feeling its more to do with being new to manually ground balancing and being new to the machine. Its a good sign though...lots a change means theres stuff there.

Cant go wrong with the Excal though. CZ21...no opinion. CZ20 was a bust IMO. BUT...Stong BUT....I played with the 20 8 years ago when I was new to detecting...and definatly gave up on that machine before I learned it. There is a famous detectorist who used it successfully so...CZ line is probably ok...was just user error on my part then.

Go with Tesro....or one of the other top of the line models if you dont wanna use fisher or excal. Cant go wrong with beach hunter either...nothing like walking around in all metal mode and just lookin at lights to see if its iron. 85% accurate imo.

It could be a few things, coil sweep technique, just missed them, not ground balanced correctly, batteries low, not sure. Is the machine the BHID with 9.5 coil or Beach Hunter 300? Did you buy it new or used? If it was purchased used there could be an issue with the machine and it might need to be checked.

There's nothing a 1280 is going to find that a properly working and adjusted Beach Hunter 300 can't. I also own other top of the line water machines (PI & VLF Fisher, White's Garrett) and this hits just as hard as any of my other VLF detectors.

Go the the Detector Pro forum and read. See at the top of the forum list, Mr. Bill has some over stock at the moment. Give him a call and talk to him about the wader and your detecting conditions.

And I would bet money you could have gone back over that same area and found more after he left.
That is just the way it is.

Is your coil very close to the sand and flat all the way thru your swing.
Are you slow and making sure you are overlapping coil width by at least 50%

I found an earring once and felt strongly the other one was there in the sand somewhere nearby.
I looked and looked going slow and listening hard.
Nothing.
The next week I went back to that same beach and found the matching earring right where I had been searching.
Go figure.

Well maybe you forgot to turn it on. or left your betteries at home... The BH 300 is a great machine . loves gold rings. there is a guy in florida who finds 50 or more gold rings year after year with his BH 300.
