A first for me.:surprised:

Made a trip across the mountains just to get away. Drove around this town and going through this old neighborhood I saw the city had torn down a couple of old houses and moving lots of dirt around. They had fences up around this area, but I asked if I could do some detecting and the reply was no!!!! Can't hurt to ask. Anyway, I saw this dump heading out with a load of dirt and decided to follow him. He ended up at this place where they were just filling in a low spot. I waited patiently for him to dump his load and after he left I grabbed my XS and went to work. After about an hour and a half I got this pretty good signal and kicked the dirt with my foot and saw the smallest coin staring at me!! I wasn't quite sure what it was until I picked it up and finally I saw the star and the Roman numeral III and I knew I had my first three cent coin.:super: My heart was thumping pretty good and I guess I picked the right dump truck to follow. Wish I could have been there when they first started hauling that dirt away, but I'm happy with what I got. Nothing else rang out under my coil so I moved on. Hit a couple of schools on the way back, but only got some clad. It's a type 1 with no outlines in the star and out in the sun light with my magnifying glass it looks like the date says 1853. It's well worn, but still a very nice addition to my collection. Not a seated coin James ND, but I'll take it just the same. Thanks for looking and HH.

You lucky little detectorist you!:clapping: That is one SWEET FIND Eddie! It's not Seated but WHO CARES!!! It's a freakin' 3 Cent Silver and not too bad of shape either. I'd take that tough find anyday over a Seated Dime. Congrats on one fine dig buddy! You deserved it!!:clapping: Makes you wonder now what else was in them yards. I'd go back and ask to talk to the boss or the foreman to see if you couldn't get into some of that since you wouldn't be in their way and you know what your doing. Thanks for the surprise find Eddie and good to hear you were able to get out for a bit and find a Sweet Coin that I will most likely never find. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

Man Eddie
That is a nice one buddy!!!!!!!!! I am very happy for you!

Congrats bro...that is an awesome dig. Now I have to get off of the computer before my boss docks my pay:starwars: :bouncy:

Believe it or not, my son eyeballed one of those ~ 4 yrs. ago. 1853 in vn shape.

Hey Ed, Nice three cent you snagged there. You must of pooped your pants when you seen that baby staring you in the eye. Sometimes when we see a coin in the ground we have to do a double take because we don't believe when we're looking at it. Looks in good shape too, Congrats! :beers:

Good intuition on following the dump truck.

I like the persistence you had and it payed off
