A few previous finds near the old fort…

Thought I would post a few of my better finds from the fort and some of the surrounding fields just this past winter and spring before the fields were planted. I retired back in 2020 and my wife’s retirement present to me was an upgrade from my Minelab Explorer II to the CTX 3030 that we purchased from Bart at Big Boys Hobbies. Found a lot of coins with my Explorer but if you are thinking of upgrading believe me it was worth the money for me. Most of my finds are things that other detectors have missed including my own. The faster processor in the iron made some of my old hunting spots new again. Not to mention being able to grid off a site and see where you missed with Google maps. Anyway the coin pics that I posted in order are a double stamped Connecticut copper, a 1794 Liberty Cap Large Cent before and after pic, 1825 Classic Head Half Cent and an 1808 Classic Head Large Cent. And last but certainly not least my best find since I retired. My very first and only silver dollar before and after cleaning pics.Never thought I would find a silver dollar after metal detecting for 20 years but an 1809 Spanish 8 Reale. I didn’t think this would be possible in a supposedly hunted out field, which by the way was in another field no where near the fort that me and my dad as well as several other detectors that had been hammered. Apparently it was deep enough and masked enough buy iron that it was missed. Never say never guys Sorry I originally just wanted to post some pictures but got carried away. Also didn’t know that you can only attach 20 files so I had to erase some reverse pics. I will post more if there’s any interest.Thanks for looking… TMac

Thanks guys… Here are the reverse pics that I couldn’t fit with the post. As well as a couple KG II’s with somewhat readable dates. It’s pretty rare to find coppers with dates at most of these fields but once in awhile you get lucky.

Amazing finds..I really like the 1794 large cent and the half cent but that mis stamped Connecticut copper is the ic on the cake.
