A Few Deus 2 Questions

E-Trac-Ohio

Well-known member
I've used my Deus 1 non stop for over 9 years - thousands of hours - many thousands of finds.
Had a few questions for users with a lot of hours on the both the D1 & D2. -

(I) I run Gary's "Sifter" & "Hot" programs in Full Tones 95% of the time on my D1.
I hunt a lot of junk iron sites - old home sites, cellar holes, etc. ( I don't do any Beach Hunting)
Depth is not as important to me as target separation in iron.
I'm very brain trained to Full Tones - what programs would be similar to what I've been using with the D2 ?

(2) How is the Tone quality on the D2 compared to the D1 ?

(3) I've read some posts about the D2 bringing their old "hunted out " D1 sites back to life with the D2 - true or false from what you've seen ?

(4) What, other than the obvious features do you like more about the D2 than the D1 ?

Thanks in advance for your replies and Good Hunting !

Hey E-Trac, like you I was a long time D1 user. My answers to your questions are: 1, you can run full tones in just about any program, I use Full Tones just about all the time. 2, I think the PWM is even better in the D2 than it was in the D1....especially in Full Tones. Plus you have Pitch or the Square and High Square flutey minelab options if you like that sort of sound. 3, Yes, very true for me. 4, I hunt the same types of sites you do and the D2 out performs the D1. The multifrequency does make a difference.

Thanks for the reply Lodge Scent !
One other quick question - I know everyone is different but how long did it take you to get really get use to the D2 after you switched over from the D1 ?

My comments coming from an Etrac prior to using the D2. I have used it for two years now, the first year I used only the factory programs. Reason for only using those programs was to get to know the machine and what it was telling me. I basically used the General and Sensitive programs. This past year I started tweaking the default settings, regarding iron volume, the equalizer, reactivity, discrimination, silencer, frequency etc. The audio tones were different coming from Minelab to XP, yet for me I had no problems adjusting. In my opinion I feel with it and its newer technology that it helped contribute to finding more things at my old sites. Potentially I could make that same statement if I was using a Manticore based solely on the newer technology part. My thoughts…
