Sounds like a Great Day with the family Bryce :detecting:

I haven't been detecting in quite awhile, just been to hot for digging in this Alabama red clay.

Shop work has been slow too, the economy purely sucks & can't blame folks for not spending what little money they have on motorcycles.

So ... I'm just taking it easy, been bass fishing with my grown kids every chance we can get together .... have caught some good one's too :bouncy:

Just had to bury my father in-law last week, so that's alway's a good reminder of just how little time we have with our family members.

Later ...... Mike
Thanks for respondin' Mike...and sorry about your father in law. Enjoy the fishin my friend. Sounds like a good idea about now.

Bryce I absolutely loved this post. The walking liberty key date is a superb find but as you stated...nothing in comparison to the memories your gettogether generated. You done good by raising your daughter and it shows on all 3 of your faces in the first picture. thanks for what you do here.
Thanks for the kind words Doug. They mean a lot to me.:)

You know Bryce.... I am only 22 years old  LOL I am just kidding man!!!!!!! The story is awesome.. The pics are GREAT.. I wish I could get my Dad out there and hunt with me. He likes to see my finds, but has no interest in doing it himself.. I guess you could look at it as a plus.. There will be more for me to find  I hope you get out and dig a jar of silver soon brother!
DerrellD
:bouncy:You're 22 huh?
My Dad has interest...but is just about to the point that he can no longer hunt. Unless the dialysis kicks in and does what it's supposed to...his time is going to be very limited...so my fingers are crossed and my prayers are many:angel:
Take care bro....and thanks for responding.

You are all about family and friendship. This is my favorite post out of them all mate.
Congratulations. you have a beautiful daughter and a wonderful pop and a good buddy in Herkules.
Put that first picture in a frame and covet it.
Thanks O. You're 100% correct my friend. To me a silver Roosey is just as good as a seated. I just like findin' stuff.

Bryce,

That one moves to the top of my all-time favorite Bryce posts! [10 for 14 from behind the arc, sheesh!!!] My 11 year old girl has been playing basketball for a couple of seasons now and hit her 1st 'trey' in a recent game. Great family get together and the Walker ain't bad either! :super: - Jim
 Thanks Jim. All we did from 7th grade on was basketball...and more basketball.
She once hit 5 "trey's" in a game during her senior year...and was an 86% career freethrow shooter. She screwed up her acl during the last game her senior year...but still did well for the college team for 3 years after that. I will never forget seeing the referee's hands raised when she nailed her first college 3 pointer:clapping: Take care Jim

Great post Bryce !! I did a little hunting with my dad back in the late 70's but he never really got into it. We both had Compass machines (no descriminator).
For the past 10 years or so before he passed away he used to look foreward to sharing what I had found.
I got away from detecting when the kids were born (now ages 25 & 21) so they never developed an interest but now always ask to hear the stories of what I'm
finding.
Put that day you had in a bottle and keep it close!
Bruce in Ct
Thanks Bruce. The day is in a bottle...and will be cherished. As for the pic of the 2 of us...I'm having it made into an 8 x 10.
PS: the gold old days...and those non discriminators....that's what found us the good stuff:clapping:

Bryce,

Great story, glad you had a special Fathers Day! I wish I could of gotten my boys into metal detecting when they were younger. They show no interest to this day. So I hunt by myself or the guys from the detector club on occasion. My three sons ages are 20 (21 next month), 17 and 12; they have their own interests and I respect that. Here in NM the temps. are hovering around 97 to 100, but, with 10 to 15% humidity. I can hunt for about 4 to 5 hrs. tops, but, you gotta drink plenty of water, etc. to keep on going.

Anyway, I got a question for you. Do you still have your XL Pro or did you get rid of it? I use to follow the Analog forum from a couple of years ago to present (and still do) when you had a bunch of questions to 'Dugger' concerning your XL Pro. If you still have it, is it put in the back of the closet? Does your Minelab detectors just out do the XL Pro? . . .Just curious? I used mine on Sat. 19th and was digging common clad at depths of 5 to 6 inches. I am still impressed with my XL Pro which is no slouch. I have a Whites Spectra V3 in my arsenal which I've been using for about a year and half and I must say that I'm really impressed in the depth in which I was pulling coins out of the ground. There is a learning curve though, but if you are computer literate, then there is no problem in programing custom settings, etc.

Prior to the purchase of the V3, I almost bought a SE Pro, but changed my mind at the last minute. My friend has and still uses his Explorer II and swears by it. He is mostly a relic hunter. . . Still pondering the purchase of one though. . . gotta wait until this economy makes an about face before I do it. What do you think about the SE Pro??? Your thoughts.

Thanks for your time,

TC-NM
Thanks for responding TC.
I dold my XLpro ONLY because my daughter and my dad both preferred the XLT. They both like the little icon pictures that show what the possible target might be:bouncy:
They also both like the screen better than the meter.
To me...the XLPRO is the best analog detector ever made...and is slightly deeper then the xlt...but that isn't what its about for us in this case. It's about fun...and the XLT spell FUN:beers:
As for the SE...I feel it's the best deep silver and injun' machine ever made. It does have a learning curve...but is deadly on walked over silver if you take the time to understand the language it speaks.

Thanks Dan....it was a very special time.
As for your FIRST possible hunt in a very long time...my thoughts and prayers are with you:angel:...go dig a deepie or two my friend:thumbup:
Even if you can only hunt for 30 minutes...I know you...and you'll cherish the time.

That story brings a tear to my eyes.I also went through a divorce but i wasnt so luck to get custody of my daughter who is now twelve. She spends the summer with me but i dont get to wake her up for school every morning with her hair in a mess or tuck her in at night.I really dont think there is a stronger love than a fathers love for his daughter and it looks like you have done well so congrats. We have bass fished for years together and went to a locl park the other day with my MD and pulled a 60 year old green line token and a silver ring that looks like garcia from greatful dead and she is lets say Hooked! This is an awesome site.
Thanks friend.
I wouldn't trade the moments and memories shared while raising her...for anything in the world.
Like you...we too bass fished often. I'll never forget watching her pull in her first big bass on a little floating purple work I tought her to use.
It weighed over 4 lbs...and she got it in on her ultralight with 6 lb test line.:clapping:

Kinda crossed my mind to punch their lights out on more than one occasion. As a mater of fact I did skin my knuckles on one of 'em....so I'm thankful your daughter found a good one:angel:
