The excalibur is one of, if not THE finest water machine ever made. But Minelabs stubborn refusal to make widely requested changes, fix obviously needed items for years ( knobs and crummy earphones), etc, will result in many more people learning to do it yourself, to make a unit they like, work better.
My Sov conversion of last summer resulted in me now having the equivilent of two Excals.
In my opinion, careful modifications are a big plus to the consumer.
If they don't want us doing them, perhaps they should offer a lifetime warranty!! IMHO.

I am in the process of getting set up for the water (retiring in a short time) so I was considering the Excal and a good hooka system. I am not near the saltwater beachs (Arkansas) and would really like your opinion of your soverign vs an excalibur.

Do they "sound" the same--I mean, like an explorer? I had one of those a few years ago and found it amazing. But I sold it and think I will buy back into a minelab. What is it you don't like about the excal's construction? The knobs, or something I don't know about?

I would not be beyond outfitting a new soverign if I could justify it. Your thoughts (and anyone here) please.
