A 1776 2 Reale before and after electrolysis.

I found this on a beach that appears to be never hunted along with some other old coins a few months back and decided to give it a bath
Well my friend made a electrolysis cleaning tank out of a fosters coffee can a plastic one and it
Came out great compared to what it looked like before the cleaning. It was given 4 baths in between a wipe to remove the loose oxidation it took maybe 20-30 min .

A great find - great job cleaning it too - congrats !
Old beach coins sure do come up black a lot - electrolysis is a good way to clean them if checked often.
I've also had very good results cleaning silver coins that have old driveway asphalt stuck to them, brass padlocks and other encrusted relics.

For those who are interested, this is how I had set up a small electrolysis tank. I like it because it’s a small unit, suited well to the small things I like to restore. I’m not the first to use one of these plastic coffee cans for this purpose, just added a few of my own touches.
