705 to V3i ease?

GoVidGo

New member
I got my first detector about 3 months ago, X-Terra 705. When I am not working I have it out, and sometimes at work (I am a real estate agent)
I really like it and have learned to use it as well as I could in that 3 months...
I am enjoying my new hobby enough that I grabbed an F2 for someone to use if they wanna go with me, or to keep in my trunk.
I have thought about getting an E-Trac over the V3i, because I thought it would be easier to transition since I was already using a Minelab which might be similar, just with more bells and whistles(?).

I don't want this to be a ETRAC-vs-V3i battle (enough of those on the net and confuse everything more).

I am just looking for input from the White's users if I am making a logical decision?

And I have learned that it makes a big difference where/what you are looking for and where at. Here's my personal details:
-Indiana, PA area
-parks, fairgrounds, old houses/foundations, lakes, etc
-week at the Eastern shore on the beach
-tech savy and like to learn, but not be overwealmed

Both of those machines are top of the line, and I am sure either one is basically better than my 705, just like the 705 is basically better than my F2.

thanks, in advance, for the input....

My advise would be try both first hand. The V3i and ETrac are definitely different animals. The E is nothing like the 705. There is nothing you will read here that you haven't already read. Some people just like the way each one fits them. You will need to decide this one yourself. ROB

We are not going to deside for you because there are so many reasons why a person likes one detector over the other. If you deside on a V3i / VX3, we will be here to help you.

I have owned both the Etrac and the V3i. The V3i will do so much more than both the Etrac and the 705 as far as versitility goes. You can setup the V3i to just about match any search conditions. To me they are both about the same depth until you get out of the factory programs and start playing with the different settings then I think the V3i may have a slight advantage. I think the Etrac was a little easier to swing and may have had a little bit more stable TID in my area. There are plenty of diffferent type coils that you can buy for each. The minelab has a better warranty, but I have heard that warranty work may take some time to get done. I think whites has the better (best) customer service. If you ever have a problem you will be taken care. Really you can not go wrong with either detetctor, they are both top of the line. There are a lot of youtube videos of both machines. You may want to watch some of them too if you have not already and you dont have a dealer close where you could at least try one out.

No dealers where I am at, unfortunately. I have watched the YouTube videos, read the blogs, compared the side by side, etc.. I still think I am somewhat still a 'noobie' and someone said I am not 'brainwashed' yet or have 'no bad habits'...LOL. I hope I get some help or advice if stuff comes up, with whichever...

Hello GoVidGo, I own a X-Terra 70 which is the same as the 705 and Quattro witch is a FBS machine like the E-Trac. The biggest difference between the machines is the sweep speeds. The FBS detector has a slower recovery which needs a slower sweep speed. It took me some time to get use to the Quattro. The X-Terra has a faster recovery so the coil can be swept faster. My Quattro handles heavy iron better than my X-Terra 70. I dug more iron with the X-Terra. The Quattro is about pound heavier the X-Terra 70. I like using both of these detectors and I have found good stuff with both of them. I have never used a V3i but what I read and seen they are pretty good detectors. By the way I live near Pittsburgh, PA.

Guys we are here to discuss the Spectra detectors. Posts that don't include the Spectra line should be handled in a PM. This is MHO.

Hi,I Live in Aultman, Pa about 7 miles from you. I have a V3i and a f75 ltd. The v3i has a learning curve but is a very good detector.

I live over by the YMCA, treasureseeker61... kewl!

I was wondering if the stock V3i coil is bad, average, or good for PA soil, and which one would be a good one for coin relic in PA soil?

I use the 6x 10 coil on my V3i, I hunt places that has a lot of trash. When I found an old foundation in the woods use the 10 dd coil. Maybe sometime we could hunt together and could show you the v3i.

I'd like to check out the V3i and see what it can do. let me know!
