705 incoming

Way late to the party lol. 705 gold unit on its way. Also have a Coiltek Digger 3 Khz coming.
Just looking for something different for urban jewelry hunting.
Currently have way too many machines. My 540,440,340 trio do me well, but sometimes an old machine is fun.

As @Old Longhair said Download the E book written by Randy AKA @Digger that book is a wealth of knowledge on all the Older Xterras 305,505, and 705

Understanding your X-TERRA (US Letter size)
I read the book the other day after I made the deal lol. Nothing really unknown to me, but it will help setting things up the first time.
I have a little over 25 machines, and have owned probably another 10 in the past. Lots of things are similar across the board with detectors.
Perusing all 400 plus pages here did grant a lot of insight.

The devil is in the details. Just little things, like the higher the GB number the milder the conditions, which is opposite from other machines.
The best part of a 705 is that so many aspects are user configurable, so if what you're doing isn't working, change something! The combinations available are almost infinite, and the tips & tricks Randy put in the book are a good place to start when you think you're whipped by a site.

705 was way ahead of it's time, and still finds as much as it did 20 years ago. Sure, tech has come along but that don't mean it's been rewritten and anything made 10 years ago is obsolete. I always get a kick out of the guys who buy a newly made 1500 machine and post a few nickels that they're old machine missed.. Financially that's counterproductive

100%
I started this hobby around 25 years ago. It took me 4-5 years to learn that a well understood machine that you enjoy using will keep finding better and better things.
My 3 favorite machines to grab are my BH Tracker IV, Teknetics Eurotek Pro, and my Vanquish 340. Simple and fun.
I’ve always subscribed to the principal that every detector brings a different tool set to the game. That’s why I have so many detectors lol. The only negative is storing all of them.

Interesting you threw in the BH Tracker IV as a one of your favorites - (y)

Always has been the unsung hero of the detecting world. It probably brought the most amount of people into it. Just add a few coils and it still finds the goods.

Wasn't it the Equinox that was going to make all other detectors obsolete?

Not only did Minelab make that claim, but I heard someone else make the claim that single frequency are history..
I never did buy into this hype along with the videos showing how fast the recovery speed was in the Equinox…they were swinging the Equinox so fast over those test targets that no one could possibly tell what was under the coil!!
With that being said, I eventually bought the 800 after much coaxing from another forum member and have not been disappointed in it at all.
For me it is better than my XTerra 50 which I still have but have not used since I got the 800, but like others have stated, it can still find stuff for me.

It’s good to stay with one detector and probably smart too but I use even my simple “low performance“ ones at times because I like them in other ways.
Ya know,I find just as much or more with a nokta score as I do with a legend, same with a vanquish and equinox. Some machines are deeper, seperate easier, but when it comes down to actual finds some of my best and most valuable finds where with a Tesoro, no meter and no settings at all. Go figure
