6 inch 18.75 coil skid plate

Actually, check out the coils on their $4500 top of the line GPX 4000. Then check out the coils on a $100 BH detector. Difference.. the cheap detector can have the coil submerged for however long you'd wish.. the high end one fries out at the very thought. Verdict.. cheap and 'shonky' Minelab product. Here's a direct quote from the manual "The coil may be used in light rain but take care
not to immerse it in water."
..Willy.

I am allways willing to buy quality, quality, quality.......yes and at an expected higher price.....

I never mind if it cost some bucks but I get mad when i pay big bucks to recieve shit.....

That hasnt happened with the 70 but I wish the Elliptical was waterproof.

I have had mine nearly all the way up to the control box in water just yesterday and it worked beautifully. The area I went to has been underwater for as long as I can remember and I was pulling out all kinds of stuff from bullet shells, an old casio watch (wasn't working and without the band) ,a hair pin, a couple of copper coins (1c and 2c) and my best find was an old pocket knife made by the Swiss still in working order but a little rusty and blunt, nothing a good clean up wont fix. I found the coil to be very quiet in this area compared to other ground I have covered in the past and had the sen on 25. The 6 " coil will now be my water sniper for sure (fresh water only). The main thing when using any coil underwater is to be extra careful around rocks and other objects.
Cheers!

You are spot on Neilo i haven't seen a coil yet that you can't get a coil cover for. It does look like it has a cover BUT that is how it is molded.

..that Minelab DOES come out with 'shonky' (I love that word) products. In this case it's for the uber-expensive top-of-the-line GPX 4000.. with the bottom-of-the-barrel coil. ..Willy.
