thanks guys. yea, you aint seen nothin yet as they say. this hobby is growing- population growing-govt growing too dang much. people with authority- or think they have some --wayyyy tooo many. and yes some tv programs hurt. a new one is great with guys from another forum. do it right. but the others...........oh boy.

i will find places to hunt somehow some where. Florida had a chance at a bill state wide to ban. i see it in the future like Georgia where i live. cant do a swimming beach- public- in a state park. the dang beach! gimme a break.

dd57, are you talking about a show that does it right? I like watching metal detecting but most of the ones are just annoying and definitely give the hobby a bad name, not to mention turn it into a business/profit JOB. I know of one thats just 2 guys that never mention $$$ and they donate their finds to museums or the landowners, ect. Its decent but the guys can be pretty hyper, thats nothing about how they treat the hobby though! They seem pretty stand up.

i cant get the channel, but i understand Dig Wars with larry Cissna who owns another forum are doing it right. they hate the other guys with a passion. i have talked to people who said they are hilarious, but i also know people who do the annual hunts with them and they say they are just that way in person without a TV show.

as far as schools- thats always a tossup. mostly "NO" and they have a building patrol on all defunct owned property due to wire strippers metal theives. and the college campus--BLANK no. a local professer pitched a tizzy saying people were stealing what belongs to mother earth and lost by past civilizations and it was not theirs to begin with ,only an archeo with a permit should be allowed to.. whiny whiny whiny and got us barred, after we actually had permission. there went my beer pulltab collection to hades...lol! was trash city with that bunch of college drunks and pot smoking liberals at the big college in Macon. i wont call the name. lol!

i will find a way and a place or fly the jolly roger as last resort lol! when metal detectors are outlawed, only outlaws will have metal detectors..lol!
